This is exactly how I use it. Basically, if you receive spam on webshop@catata.fish you know exactly who sold/"lost" your address.
One downside is that you cannot send from this address, but you usually don't need that anyway. And in the rare case that you do, you can just create an actual alias.

I agree that the downvotes on your posts in the Jerboa community are rather strange. My theory is that people who downvote your more controversial stuff subsequently go through your whole profile and just downvote everything regardless of content.

I like Pika Backup. It's a frontend for borgbackup that also let's you mount and browse your archive with a few clicks. I think it's pretty handy on a desktop PC. And since it uses borgbackup you also get encryption with it.
This person will never commit a sex crime, will never say a racist remark, never do anything controversial.
But controversy is good, it generates attention. My fear is that the "optimized" artificial celebrity will be exactly that and it will be a whole new level of shitshow. When you think about it, there are already people who maintain "controversial" public personas for that exact reason (not naming any, since I don't want to give them more attention), so it's not even that far fetched.

I have the same issue. Deleting app data and cache stopped the crash at the start, but I cannot log into my account. It seems the reason for the crash was that the lemmy instance I'm on (and that I was still logged into) uses version 17.x, when Jerboa requires 18.x.
Stimmt irgendwie schon, aber mir ist das trotzdem lieber als zig E-Mails nur mit dem Wort "Danke" in meinem Postfach zu haben.
