If thats her concern, its better to protest now when they havent started deploying troops and we have a chance to gain support and stop them rather than later when its not an option.

Inaction out of fear is cowardice, but fearlessness and dismissal of the possibilities is equally stupid. Bravery is to understand the risks but overcome the fear. Recall the poem by Niemöller, "First they came for..." and take the necessary precautions.

Dont bring your phones (or keep them turned off the way there and back), disable biometrics on them, cover your face and other identifying features, and stick with a group. Keep everyone in your group orderly; no rioting or damage to property. Decide on a meetup point in advance for if you get separated.

Weird, I was just looking at how to recall senators and Minnesota requires:

  • $100 + 25 resident signatures
  • file a petition: "The grounds must be one of the following: malfeasance, nonfeasance, or serious crime"
  • State Supreme Court decides if its worth hearing, then set up a court date
  • hearing to decide if grounds for recall are valid
  • get 25% of the number of votes cast in the last general election within 90 days

They aren't talking about a particular instance because of how many times the IDF have bombed Palestinian hospitals

Look at the NYTs coverage of the genocide in gaza ("boohoo poor israel, self defense") and general media coverage Bernie Sanders (doesnt exist until he has no chance of winning something, pretending hes more outspoken now even though he's been saying the same thing for the last 60 years)

All resigning does is give them a greater margin to win votes by. We have several chances to win a tie or majority in the house and senate

Three house seats are up for special elections, two in florida and one in NY. If they all elect democrats, there will be a tie in the houde and any bill can be blocked.

Senate votes can be held without all members present, so making sure all democrat congress members always show up and always vote gives a good chance of blocking some bills

Also in 2026 will be the midterm and we can vote republican congressmembers out, as they only have a majority and not a supermajority.

But not by much longer. People on the other side of the world or connected to satellites monitoring sunspots would notice pretty much immediately after the light ceases to reach the earth and would tell everyone else over the internet

If we can create a tie, democrats could block any legislation going through the house, and flipping any one republican congressman could potentially allow them to get legislation through the house.

Interesting that that guy also created a conservative community and an anti-trans community calling trans people groomers. "Hey, I'm a republican fascist, but not a nazi, so long as nazi means left wing"

The American Chestnut was nearly wiped out in the US due to chestnut blight introduced by imported Japanese chestnut trees. Researchers have pursued two main avenues for repopulating the American Chestnut: direct genetic modification / engineering (above link) and cross breeding with Chinese Chestnuts (blight resistant) then re-breeding the result back with American chestnuts. This is to hopefully keep it as close to American chestnuts while also gaining blight resistance.

I've never had chestnuts, even though it used to be one of Eastern Americas most populous trees. I was hoping I could get some and plant them around here and there but we aren't to the point that they're commercially available yet (though available by request)
