The "scraping" they are claiming may be coming from inside the house, so to speak, as it appears they are DDoSing themselves.
You seem to go out of your way to read and response to everything in the most argumentative way possible. Basically every comment I see from you is this way. In case you are not aware, people are not obligated to talk to you. Please discover a new way to interact with people.
after hearing Starfield might be exclusive to PlayStation
This is.. incorrect. Among the previous generation the consoles were:
- Xbox One (eventually renamed to....)
- Xbox One S
- Xbox One X
The consoles in the current gen are:
- Xbox Series S
- Xbox Series X
Neither the word "one" nor the word "series" overlapped between the two generations.
I'm obviously really looking forward to seeing more on Starfield, but here are some other titles I'm hoping to hear about:
- Fable
- Avowed
- Perfect Dark
- Hellblade 2
- Contraband
The problem, I think, is that PeerTube (and Owncast) don't effectively do the parts that content creators™ find valuable - wide distribution/discoverability and linking content to ads for a profit incentive.
If you want to make content or stream as a hobby, these things can make sense. If you already have a large following then you might be able to convince that following to join you on one of these alternatives. Anything in between... I'm not sure it's very compelling for most.
- Twitch made a change nobody liked
- Everyone made it clear they didn't like it
- Twitch listened and went back. Isn't this what we wanted?
This is not true. You can subscribe to a community on beehaw.org even if your account is on lemmy.ml. That's what this post is about, that the process for doing that is unintuitive.
This is the same trap people are falling into with regards to Bluesky. "It's just easier" because no one else is running a server using that software yet.
@sexy_peach@feddit.de does a great job of explaining things.
One thing I will add for single-user Mastodon instances: joining one or more relays can be helpful. You can find a list of relays here: https://relaylist.com/
I'll also post the information on that page, because I think it bears being emphasized.
Pros:
- Increased activity in the federated feed of your server
- Improved hashtag results for users
- Expanded reach for users as posts are sent to all participants in subscribed relays
Cons:
- Increased media storage requirements and cost
- Increased resource demands
- Cost and performance of smaller deployments may be negatively impacted
- Increased moderation responsibilities
Finally, the participants number does not directly correlate with the load adding a relay cause. It is best to review the servers participating to gauge activity. For instance, relays that have a few large, very active servers subscribed will impact your server's resources more than relays that have numerous small servers subscribed.-----
Yo can I get your autograph?
Just a reminder that "Mastodon" is the software, not the specific service provider. Mastodon.sdf.org is different from, say, Mastodon.social even though they run the same software.
If you haven't already, you should contact the admin for that instance with your concerns. The contact the site lists is mastodon@mastodon.sdf.org
