Motorola announced today a partnership with GrapehenOS. Soon, we will no longer need Google Pixel.

I'm not a heavy phone user, but I have GrapheneOS installed. I think it requires a bit of tech knowledge, but it's cool.

There is Friendica that is an alternative to Facebook.

Personally, if it's not federated and decentralized, it's hard for me to take it seriously. I'm totally okay with new social networks, but if it can't talk to other servers, what's the point?

Yeah, I love OwnCast, it's actually so much simpler than Twitch, and it has no ads.

I stopped using Kijiji a long time ago and recently deleted my account. It's dead to me. FB Marketplace is one of the few reason why I still have my FB account.

I hope to find decent alternatives eventually in Canada.

Those are very fair concerns. That's also why I'm prioritizing local open source AI over big centralized datacenters.

• It is private and doesn't collect data.
• I pay my own electricity bills.
• Smaller models tend to me more efficient for simple tasks.
• I use RAM and hardware that I already owned before the AI bubble.
• I'm smart enough to understand that AI isn't perfect and can be delusional.

While AI is still AI, it does make me feel better.

Not sure if you're anti-AI or something, but I intend to use chatbots. To me, it is now like this: local > claude > everything else
