After the hack last night, effected instances, lemmy.world being one of them, invalidated existing login tokens as a security measure after updating. If it is persisting after deleting the app, you may want to try my personal fix. What I did was

  1. Log into alt account in addition to my primary one
  2. After you have 2 accounts added to the app the option to delete, basically log out of the account, will appear by both accounts (memmy only lets you do this if there is more than one account, it won't let you sign out if it is the only account on the app) then I deleted the primary account from the app.
  3. I exit the app and close the tab
  4. Open the app again, and resign into primary account by hitting the add account option.

I am personally not in a postilion to correct people right now as I am still using my dead name with some people... in the future though I would LOVE to just say "no need to apologize, you got it right the first time." Keeping in mind that for those that are working retail, it is probably best to politely correct whenever possible.

Now just out right aggressive shit like when I heard some guy behind my back say something along the lines of...

(was going to leave a very upsetting example here but decided to spare you the example, but let's just say that while I am boymode-ing often it is obvious to many that I am either trans or queer based on my appearance)

...as I was still working I just turned around and while my voice and words were nothing but polite... I am sure my expression did the trick because the dude shut up fast.

(I hate my body (my height being one thing I wish I could change), but in situations like that, an upset expression from a 6'2" person is somewhat more affective)

Both memmy and mlem have been great in their own ways thus far. Both are in testflight and getting regular updates, in addition to the news about sync there is also news about another new one called artemis that is aiming to be apollo styled.

They do want to refederate when we get some better moderation tools. It would be cool if we had a list of the tools they need the most in order to refederate as I’m sure some in the community would be more motivated to make those tools if they new the priorities.

Conservatives just like their myths about America, Race, and Gender more than learning the realities as they don’t align with their beliefs.

UPS workers, along with all workers, unquestionably deserve a fair share, if not the entirety, of the value they generate for their employers. Unfortunately, our existing systems often fall short in recognizing this fundamental principle. However, one powerful recourse available to them is the exercise of their rights as workers and union members through strikes. The strike is commonly regarded as the union's most potent tool, akin to a muscle that atrophies if left dormant. To forge a better future, we must actively encourage greater union participation and urgently pass the PRO Act to safeguard workers' rights.

Totally normal and healthy behavior 😬

Daniel Ellsberg's life serves as a stark reminder that the US government is not impervious to deception and propaganda, particularly when it comes to combating socialism, even when it goes against the wishes of the majority. Ellsberg, a former military analyst, exposed the lies and cover-ups surrounding the Vietnam War by leaking the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret government study. His brave act revealed a pattern of misinformation employed by those in power to justify military actions and suppress socialist movements. Ellsberg's actions highlight the importance of critical thinking and holding government accountable, reminding us that even democratic institutions are susceptible to manipulation and distortion of truth.

After the (temporary) defederation announcement of earlier i checked the Lemmy repo to see if there was already a ticket on the federation limiting option like Mastodon's that people mentioned Lemmy doesn't yet have. Not only i didn't find it, i also saw that there's about 200+ open tickets of variable importance. Also saw that it's maintained mostly by the two main devs, the difference in commits between them and even the next contributors is vast. This is normal and in other circumstances it'd grow organically, but considering the huge influx of users lately, which will likely take months to slow down, they just don't have the same time to invest on this, and many things risk being neglected. I'm a sysadmin, haven't coded anything big in at least a decade and a half beyond small helper scripts in Bash or Python, and haven't ever touched Rust, so can't help there, but maybe some of you Rust aficionados can give some time to help essentially all of Lemmy. The same can be said of Kbin of course, although that's PHP, and there is exacerbated by it being just the single dev.
