I pretty much only use cash for buying things on FB marketplace, so the idea of giving my kids cash to teach them about responsible spending and value etc seems antiquated. But giving them a debit card seems too abstract. What are you all doing?

Thanks for sharing this. My gut reaction is that that these attacks were unreasonable and careless in who they impacted and should be criminal. But it’s very interesting to read an analysis of the actual law - even if I don’t agree with it

You’re right, it is possible to reject someone’s belief while letting them pray in a public space.

However, when you tangle the prayer into governance you send a signal that the religious practice will, on some level, inform how the people are governed. And that’s not okay in our society.

No no. Broken bones would probably be Orange. Some bone breaks are potentially life threatening by themselves (pelvis, femur, and skull/spine obviously), and then if they break through the skin that really changes things. Part of this that the call-taker and dispatcher make an informed assessment on the situation based on the information given over the phone.

BC uses this exact system and has for some time. However, they haven't implemented Green calls yet so they get lumped into Yellow. An example of a Green call might be more like "I accidentally left my daily medication in my pocket when I was doing laundry and the only pharmacy in town isn't open until 2 days from now and I have no way to get to the hospital by myself".

Everyone's got different life situations so scenarios like that one really do come up and they do need caring for, but any reasonable person would agree that they're in a different category than "I think I'm having a heart attack"

What’s the definition of a “car” here? Do pickups and vans count?

I bet some set of those will be excluded and if that’s the case this will have a side effect of driving further adoption in those larger vehicles.

This is the biggest staffing level change since the one announced in summer of 2021 that was a direct result of the heat dome fiasco. This one is (mostly) a result of the new contract that was negotiated.

The shift pattern labels are cryptic and confusing but now many small towns and island communities will have full time at-the-station coverage instead of depending on people wearing a pager and earning $2/hr (and also hoping people are actually willing to work those conditions).

This is a big win and improvement for these communities.

If they didn’t use reason and logic to make up their minds, you don’t stand much of a chance using them to change their minds.

Look, with your level of logical thinking I don’t know if this is the right thread for you

My little one isn't even teething yet, but my wife and I were talking the other day about what we used to get from the Tooth Fairy when we were kids.

Has the Tooth Fairy kept up with inflation?

What are your little ones finding under their pillows?
