Thats pretty difficult as its almost like intuition. Your brain has learned about these micro signals and must picks up on vibes.

I have double powers as I’m neurodivergent and grew up in a highly traumatic household so you learn to pick on tiny signs that it’s about to pop off. Feel my life is fight or flight at all times.

I think you’re reading way more into my comment than intended.

I just meant centre-left in the conventional media/political spectrum sense used in the UK, not a deep ideological classification.

This is The Guardian, a left leaning paper or left of centre at least.

Wouldn’t you rather be dead than oppressed.

Animal? that’s a fax machine.

Now I don’t think people here Asa’s bad a a life agents but I do agree that violence like that isn’t acceptable, even if you tell them first you’re going to punch them in the face like this dude.

If you do condone this then you can’t condemn it when a right winger dude punches you in the face or someone “on your side”.

As the title says I’ve wanted to get into drones for some time and build my own. Recently figured I’d buy the controller and learn on sims first, but damn the controller seems so expensive since last time I checked.

I was told to go for the best for future proof and landed in TX16S Mark II Max Radio Controller (M2) but at £250 I don’t think I can justify that as the goggles will be expensive too although drone parts should be more reasonable. But what if I get bored etc.

below is a reply to a comment I made below, pasting here as I find it crazy how this went down and is allowed.

For those curious I did a little digging. I’m on mobile so won’t be going in and out to add company names etc.

Basically, the private equity firms got together and said let’s buy Toy R Us for $6.6B but we only want to use say 300M of our own money and get a loan for the rest.

Then they bought Toys R Us but made them sell all assets to equity firms which then leased them back to Toys R Us so they could pay back the loans. This means Toys R Us are paying hundreds of million a year to cover loans and can’t put that money into making a better business.

The private equity firms also made Toys R Us issue dividends in the hundreds of millions so private equity can make money.

In the end private equity walked away with over $1B in profit whilst Toys R Us declared bankruptcy with $5B still left to pay.

What a fucking insane system. Like how many people lost their jobs so these ghouls could make some extra cash off its downfall.

And people think I’m crazy for making my life harder by not shopping at places like Amazon or being a pirate and not giving money to Netflix etc.

I feel I am living in crazy land. Like the Uk has all our pensions and shit tied to the damn stock market, ensuring we can never really leave this system.

A few nights ago I drove to go and practice hitting some golf balls, I’m terrible, and so decided to stop at a shop on the way there.

Now I’m just in my own world, thoughts flowing constantly and so don’t think much of the shouting as I go into the shop; which has its doors open.

As I go in I can hear someone shouting get out but still I don’t realise he’s talking to me. Then I notice a dude without a shirt on approaching me menacingly, now I’m not a fighter but I instinctively turn into more a fighter stance and receive the hardest thigh kick I’ve ever had as he says leave.

Now you don’t gotta tell me twice I’m done with this shit and straight to golf. As I’m driving the next few minutes to get there I can’t stop thinking about what could be happening to the shop keepers. Not really a fan of the cops but in times like these I thought it necessary to call it in and they say they’ll send someone right out.

I call back the next day to get an update and they take a while to read the notes and say it turned into a serious incident and that an officer would call me. I have a family member in the police so for them to check and turns out it was armed robbery but she didn’t tell me anymore than that.

Just crazy when you’re put into a crazy situation out of nowhere.

Requirements:

  • Able to pirate books and load them on
  • Nice if it can integrate with my arr stack (Sonarr, Radarr, etc)
  • reasonably priced
  • not locked down to anything

That’s it really just a simple e-reader that I can add what I want.

Edit: this is the first post where I got a lot of comments where I wasn’t too overwhelmed to reply to them all. Hard when you wake up to so many replies but trying to be better thanking people for their input.

I’m asking as I’m trying to understand empathy and whether it’s normal to get so invested in fake characters, I mean it’s probably a testament to the writers but I overthink… a lot.

This question was bright on as I’ve been catching up on The Blacklist and at lunch today watching Season 8 Episode name “Anne “ and it wrecked me.

Tap for spoilerBasically the main character Red has to live a guarded life and for once he let it form and got close to Anne and you could tell shit was going to go downhill and it destroyed me when you think about it from his or her perspective.

For reference I’m 41 year old dude, not that it matters.

Edit: Bedtime for me but back tomorrow to reply to all.

Edit 2: I’ve got 41 comments to respond to. Currently working but I’ll be back y’all.

As the title states I’ve got bad hands and my hobbies include Rock Climbing, Piano, Golf, and Running. Suffice to say I can’t do shit.

This was a tricky operation as where the bend was is also where all the nerves and blood vessels are housed so there is risk of termination (loss of) the finger, loss of sensation, blood supply etc.

It was elective but the pros outweigh the risks for me with my hobbies and how they help me stay not sad.

Before. You can also see the scar from my first operation on the ring finger. As well as lots of flaky skin from climbing.

So I saw an ad for this cool looking led strip thing you can put in your car and then it has lots of settings.

Clicked the link and it took me to Temu, figure sure I’ll give it a go and download the app.

OMFG what the heck is this gamified shopping?

When it loaded I swear to Odin it went like a casino and said you can get the item you clicked on for free and you can choose another 5 items.

So I’m browsing through all this crap I don’t really want and adding things to move on. After selecting all free items it then said you win again or something and gave me more things to pick.

Then at the end it’s like right spend $35 to get all the other stuff for free, but said the original thing I clicked to get was not available. It’s like a bait and switch and I’m thinking I don’t any of this really I just wanted the cool led strip thing and to be left alone.

Honestly I really can’t believe people would use this place at all.

As the title says I’m looking for advice from people that have legal experience.

I bought a used car in November 2023 and from the start it had issues. Come February 2024 I can’t drive it anymore as I’m putting coolant in several times in a journey and after a couple of repairs it’s determined it needs a new head gasket. They refuse to pay for it at the finance company so I go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

The FOS rules in my favour and orders them to refund and compensate me and remove the car from my drive.

I’ve had my refund but the car is still on my drive 4 weeks later and the finance company says they’re chasing Zuto to remove the vehicle.

Last week I sent a letter stating if not removed but X date then the rate would be £20 a day for storage. They didn’t respond.

I called again and told them I need this sorting as I will move the car to the street where it will likely be towed for no tax or insurance, but I don’t believe I am legally allowed to do this.

My question is what are my options, and will I be able to get the storage fee of £20 a day from them.

Thanks.

Anybody else had this issue.

I have a media server setup with Plex and Jellyfin and now people here prefer Jellyfin but Plex is available on more devices and my users prefer it.

Now I tried watching several movies on iPhone via Plex app and it kept freezing and I had to exit and start again and half the time it wouldn’t remember where I was. I tried to watch the same movies on Jellyfin, again on iPhone and no issue.

Any thoughts? I did watch a movie at my friends on Plex through Firestick with no issue so not sure if it’s iOS or my home network and Plex or something else.

As the title says I’m curious what quality people choose. I chose Ultra-HD and am a little stunned when I look at the file sizes for some movies at 100GB.

Another question is how can I change the quality and will Radarr remove the existing download and then get a smaller one?

If it helps I have a GPU capable of hardware transcoding.

I used to work for Apple and before I joined the Genius Bar I was working the avenues (what they call the sides where they keep accessories) and because I’ve been known to pull a few scams myself (companies, never people) I have an eye for something out of the ordinary.

So I saw a lady bring in an iPhone and receipt to change it for the same phone in a different colour. Not that odd mind but I did notice it.

A few days later I see the same lady do this again with another employee and now I am thinking something is definitely off.

The next time she comes in I make sure I approach and ask them if they need help, again they ask to swap for a different colour.

I then say sure we can help with that and as is procedure we would confirm the Serial Number matches that on the receipt, we didn’t have access to the tools that read this from the hardware as we would on the GB, so we would power on the device and press the little “i” to view and compare. It’s a match, but still this isn’t legit obviously.

At this point, not that I’m protecting Apple here I wanted to work GB and this would get me on their radar, plus I was the shit at faking extroversion and giving outstanding service as I was depressed and I found being overly nice and energetic made me happier I would leave work on cloud 9 and then crash. I take the phone to the GB host (dude who checks people in) and say something is off here and explain all of the above. They send me to the repair room 🥰 never been in before and I was excited.

Once inside I explain to the tech guys that’s up and they’re like yeah that’s odd. They say to tell her that we need to do a few more checks and to come back in 30 minutes. Basically we were going by to open the phone and verify it’s innards. As well as using the serial number reader tool (forget the name now) to verify all is legit.

Go back to the lady and explain this, she’s flustered but agrees as she can’t not. Take the phone and box and drop it in the GB repair room. When I come back out I can see the lady is on the phone in an irate conversation with someone. A few minutes later she says she’s changed her mind and wants the phone back.

Go get her her phone and am instructed to write on the receipt to do a check before returning (again I forget the terminology) so that if she went to another store they’d now go open this phone up.

She’s pissed at this and leaves with her phone and receipt unhappy.

A while later I recall seeing a bust of a gang of folk from a certain country (the same this lady appeared to be from) for returning iPhones that either had fake innards or were not the phone in question.

As a scammer in the past it hurt to stop someone doing the same but this was my patch and I wanted to make a good impression. Which I did as I moved to the GB for 3 years which changed my life. They offered so much encouragement and you’re surrounded by talented people that I up-skilled and I’m now a software developer (not for Apple).

I don’t know what it’s like working there in the USA, but in England it was amazing. They paid more than any other retail store, stock was given every year, you could buy it too at a discount, you were trusted and not micromanaged, the benefits were outstanding and led me to my ADHD diagnosis with healthcare (as sadly mental health support on the NHS is underfunded).

The news just said that Israel is withholding fuel as Hamas might use it.

Next will be we’re withholding food as Hamas might eat some.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. What Hamas did was terrible, but Israel has done is no better.

The fact that for one side in a war collateral damage is acceptable is fucking disgusting and it makes me ashamed to be a human.

I condemned my own country (UK) when we helped invade Afghanistan and Iraq and murdered civilians.
