You are incorrect about natural immunity and COVID, studies have shown that the immunity is roughly equivalent. They both fade within a 60-90 day period. Source 1, Source 2. In fact the first source I linked to found that hybrid immunity through both vaccination and recovering from infection naturally provided the most robust protection against future infection.

I personally am not interested in getting new booster shot every 60-90 days. I'll take my odds. Hospitalization rates in healthy adults are incredibly low. The current hospitalization rate is 1.2 people in every 100,000. That's like 0.000012%. I'll take those odds.

Totally get it for at-risk individuals. But I'm a young person in relatively good health, I'll take my chances at building the natural immunity from infection.

Trust me, if your employer wants to know if you've been coming into the office or not, they can easily find out without needing Microsoft Teams to tell them about it. They can see what IP address your machine is connecting from. And if you work in a building with secure access they could also just pull your badge-in history to find out if you're actually there or not.

I know it's not terrible, but there is a performance disparity there that you can't ignore. If someone is spending $1000+ on a high end GPU I think it is fair for them to expect a level of performance that's a little better than "fine".

Yes, I think it would upset quite a few people. A lot of great men and women have worked and lived within its walls. It's a pretty meaningful symbol to Americans.

Yeah I understand that things have improved a lot. But it's the 10-30% performance hit in DX12 games that keeps me from wanting to dive into Linux as my primary OS on my gaming machine. If they can get that closer to parity with Windows, I'm all-in on Linux for life.

Nothing really wrong with them if they offer the performance and features you want. But I am a high end user and I also use some software that's really reliant on CUDA. So they're not really winning in either the performance or the features department for my personal use.

I got the 3 shots required for some international travel plans, but haven't got any since then. I have had covid a few times but I was either completely asymptomatic, or had what felt like a common cold. So it just hasn't been high up on my priorities.

Still waiting for nvidia to pull their heads out of their asses and fix gaming performance on their GPUs under Linux before I make the jump myself. And no, I don't want an AMD GPU.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that Trump got less than 50% of the popular vote, more than half the country wants nothing to do with him. The GOP has been playing the gerrymandering game to great effect to the degree that their candidates can lose the popular vote but still win the election.

I think you're a little mixed up. It is currently illegal for a regular pot smoker to own guns. The supreme court is looking at potentially getting rid of that restriction. So if they did, I think it would actually reenforce your friend's love of Trump.

The way the law works currently it's just a mechanism to remove gun rights from people and to tack on extra bullshit charges to anyone who happens to get caught with a little weed and also owns guns. Sincerely hope they can actually change this law because it is almost entirely used for bullshit.
