Dude, they flubbed this so damn hard by over reaching. A few years ago, when they mentioned there would be a button in word that you could use to make a slide deck of your word dock, I was so excited. The teams meeting part where it will summarize meetings is honestly fantastic in doing Roberts rules of order type stuff. My response was "I hate what this means in terms of privacy, but godamn that sounds useful".

In turning into an everything all or nothing they massively screwed up. I have a self hosted instance of llama-gpt that I use to solve the "blank page" problem that AI was actually great at.

I have a lot of issues with AI on principle, like a lot of folks. But it blows my mind how hard they screwed up delivery (and I don't just mean the startups, that's to be expected). There's plenty to be said about uber at a principle level, but it's still bloody convenient. The entire roll out of a AI-ecosystem reeks of this meme: "but we made plans!".

CDPR is still on my "probably pass" list after cyber punk. I read the launch news, stayed faraway. I picked it up this year, after all the patches and work and... yeah it's still fundamentally broken.

Not in terms of balance or bugs, but it didn't have the magic. To start, I really don't like fantasy games. They're just not my thing. Witcher 3 had bad combat mechanics, could be terribly grindy and YET is one of my top five games. The story telling, from the plot itself the tiny immersive details in the world, hooked you. They nailed the big things, but it was the little things like sometimes you'd free someone, and realize they murdered a bunch of dudes who were minding their own business, and none of this was mentioned in or affected any other plot line, it was just a random detail in the universe.

Cyberpunk has a semblance of the big stuff, but exactly none of the soul. I cared about some of the main characters (emphasis on "some") but exactly none about the world. It never felt like more than a backdrop.

A loss and misstep is ok, particularly given a growing studio, the problem with CDPR is they think they fixed cyberpunk. With that mentality I'm giving their next game a huge berth.

And if you liked cyberpunk, enjoy. There are parts to be enjoyed. There are some neat plot threads, some nifty side quests, if you enjoy it don't let people ruin it for you.

I'm a registered libertarian. Despite the craziness, I don't plan on changing that. I wouldn't have voted for Biden, strictly because I live in a state that has 0% chance of flipping, BUT I routinely vote for democrats in senate/house/local races where my vote actually does make a difference. I also encouraged friends with similar mindsets in battleground states to vote Biden.

I think the democratic party needs to fracture, it just needs to fracture AFTER the republican party.

All of that is a setup to say: I also am excited, and if someone like me is excited, I think that's a DAMN good sign. I cannot wait to piss and moan about a Harris admin. It is a big damn country, I look forward to disagreement returning to the point it doesn't result in erosion of fundamental rights and democracy itself, not to mention godamn violent insurrection.

That split entirely ruined the season for me. There's way to much time between seasons, which I get, animation takes time, and they have some big names voice acting. But that split in addition with the long season time meant I could barley remember what was going on and then it was over.

I don't know, it's a great show but I'll probably catch it 5 years from now when it's done. Just boneheaded producing decisions.

I don't know about power, but Vegas is actually incredibly water efficient. Due to the way the water rights work with the Colorado river, they're not allowed very much, but it doesn't "count" if you put it back in. So nearly every drop they use is treated and put back (probably cleaner, tbh). Boggles the brain, but somehow it's actually a fairly sustainable city. More than any other other major metro, in any event.

this thread is making me realize I'm clearly missing something. How do people actually use discord? Me and my friends basically use it as semi-permanent group chat. A few different topic areas, and no stupid android/ios compatibility issues. I'm also in two servers for some small clubs. Do people really use it the way they would lemmy/reddit?

Restaurants have notoriously thin margins. I'm not defending this bill, and there are definitely awful practices out there, but it ain't easy. Even a $34 dollar steak only kind of covers all the ancillary costs that make it happen.

The biggest issue with the crunch we have going on is that food (prepared or otherwise) should be way more expensive, and that shouldn't be an issue because most people should be making way more money. All of those should/shouldn'ts got way out of whack over the course of decades, and the circus only continued because people found crappy ways to keep it going.

It's a lot of industries. Construction is a great example. The developers make money. The material vendors make money. The builders make money. The sub contractors who actually put the parts together get haggled on invoices and take the lower amount because they have payroll to make and equipment loans to pay. Loans that are happily given out because the equipment can be easily repossessed.

It's a very good thing everything is correcting, but it's going to be an ugly process as workers get their due and pass the burden on to the small business owners.

Yeah, that one hit me weird also. Like there's videos of him doing installs and stuff at other employees houses, so maybe that's just a culture thing, but it's still weird. Like can you imagine one of the late-night folks making a joke about how the cue card guy screwed up installing his dishwasher, but not meaning it as a joke? Like you don't screw with peoples livelihood.

Like if you had a glass instsall company, and some of your employees did a sloppy job on your personal shower door, you might have a talk with them, implement an improvement plan, etc because it affects clients experiences. What you wouldn't do is put them on blast for views. And that's only because it's relevant to their actual work. Last I checked LTT doesn't offer install services.

They NAILED it. They, somehow, took the loving but self aware fan service of lower decks and jammed it into SNW which has been the most consistent reboot back to the core of this series. This was absolutely some of the best show writing I've seen in a very long time.
