In what world or country are professors not making enough to afford somewhere to live? In my country professors make good money despite the fact that tenure doesn't really exist here. It's one of the highest ranks you can have in academia above lecturer, senior lecturer, and reader.
I know some.of those names but have no idea what these people have done. Could you explain?

Crowdstrike already killed some Linux machines. Let's not pretend Windows is at fault here or Linux is magically better in this area. No one is immune from software that can run as a kernel module going bad.
Or you could just buy a CD/DVD player or audio file player and have the same ad-free experience but with modern signal quality and for a fraction of the cost. Heck a saved library on a laptop running some kind of audio player like WinAMP and disconnected from the internet would also give you that experience. Could even use Windows XP or a classic Linux for that nostalgia since it wouldn't be internet connected.
HDR is awesome if you have the right hardware. I've never seen a movie look so good. Someone needs to get HDR working.
I wouldn't go for Ubuntu. They are also run by a corporation that has done problematic things with the project. It also just doesn't work that well anymore. Better off going for something Debian or Fedora based, or even an Ubuntu derivative like Pop OS.
Some jobs require more skill, and some workers are more skilled. You can't get around that fact. That doesn't mean anyone should be making poverty wages. I think it's fair though that workers are paid more for learning skills. That can be either though paying them more at work, or paying them while they are in education. Note I don't just mean free education, I mean actually giving them money to study. That's the only way to make paying skilled and unskilled workers the same a fair system.
Even marxists don't simplify the classes as much as that diagram suggests. It's missing peasants, artisans and the petty bourgeois. It's also never been as simple as capitalist vs working class. Capitalists regularly fight amongst themselves as do the working class. This whole idea of class struggle being the only struggle is so oversimplified it's kinda silly.

The fun thing is this is just a consequence of how we write numbers. If you used base 12 1/3 would be 0.4. Obviously 0.4 + 0.4 + 0.4 in base 12 is 1.0, so 3 x 0.4 = 1
What's even more fun is that things like 1/5 or 1/10 are recurring decimals in base 12.

The only people not making good money are the PhD students who also teach. Even then most of us I think get more money than the undergraduates.
Even I as a student get something like £19,000 a year plus £40 per hour teaching rate for any classes I teach.
Either these people are manipulating you or there is something very wrong with academia in your country. Luckily moving countries is quite easy for academics as many Universities will hire foreign staff and there are often immigration laws in place for these kinds of people.
