Yea. The charging port isn’t as huge a deal as people make it out to be. In the time it takes to get a cup of coffee, the mouse will charge enough to last the rest of the day. It’s just a really unergonomic mouse. Get a Logitech MX Master instead. Your wrist will thank you.

Well, my internet connection would have to be a lot faster, and they would all need devices that support UHD h.265 and HDR10 playback. But if you have have gigabit upload and they all have shields or similar with just as fast connections, you’re good to go without transcoding (if no one wants to access it through mobile)

A lot of carrier phones come with carrier preinstalled apps. And it allows for sim locking, keeping you trapped with them or other carriers on the same network. Or at least that’s how it has been, back in the day, when sim-locking still was legal in the EU. Now, phones are the same, whether they come from your carrier or retail.

Because there are only like 3 browser engines: Chrome’s Blink, Firefox’s Gecko and Apple‘s WebKit. And while they are all open source, KHTML, the last independent browser engine got discontinued last year and hasn’t been actively developed since 2016.

There’s need in the space for an unaffiliated engine. Google’s share is far too high for a healthy market (roughly 75%), WebKit never got big outside of Safari (although there are a few like Gnome Web, there’s no up to date WebKit based browser on Windows) and Gecko has its own problems (like lack of HEVC support).

So, in my book, this is exciting news. Sure it‘ll take a while to mature and it is up against software giants but it‘s something because Mozilla doesn’t seem to have a working strategy to fight against Google‘s monopoly and Apple doesn’t have to.

It‘s not original. The joke originated in xkcd 821 (Five Minute Comics Pt. 3), however it was a little different still. The wording (besides the slur) stems from xkcd creator Randall Munroe‘s book What if?.

If you compare the image to actual xkcds, you’ll notice, that the font is different.

It’s more like, you wouldn’t put guns in a sword fighting game unless you disadvantage them in a way to still be fair. That’s just balancing. And balancing can have a lot of different shapes and forms. Speed is one way. Works for guns in sword games (flintlock guns are naturally slow to reload so you can believably do that in a period setting) and to some extent for snipers.

Map design would just be another way of balancing. Games are always designed around their mechanics (or at least good ones are). Super Mario wouldn’t be fun if you could just fly to the end of the level. If you put obstacles in the air as well though it’s balanced again. You change the design of the level to fit the gameplay. And in a game that has a somewhat powerful sniper, you don’t design a map with an impenetrable sniper nest that can overlook the whole map.

Fun fact: Modern science does not say that there are only two biological genders but that even on a biological level, there is a spectrum. For example, there are measurable differences between the brains of a woman and a transgender man and there are more viable chromosome combinations than XY and XX.

Not really though. In Europe teletext was very prominent (and is still available today, at least here in Germany). It’s basically a newspaper on the TV.

Now, the only person I know who still uses it is my granddad who wishes nothing more than for the internet to be more like the teletext.
