May be unpopular opinion but I think this strategy they're going for of appealing to Republicans may work to get real change.

In the past we'd offer an olive branch and the republicans would burn the tree down. However if they can effectively split the GOP into republican vs MAGA, maybe the republicans will be less evil or ignorant towards legislation. Enemy of my enemy is my friend.

If they can jack knife the republican party, maybe it'll move the whole left/right system away from the extreme right and let us stop pretending the alt-right cult deserves any official respect or recognition.

I'm not advocating for letting the right do whatever they want or drag us down. More like I wanna coax them towards the most basic of basic of decency so we don't get literal threats to democracy anymore.

As a Gen-Z, I feel this divide is the result of our gen growing up on the internet and Gen-Alpha growing up in the internet. Like culturally I feel Gen-Z still had roots to reality hidden behind layers of absurdism and abstraction. Gen-Alpha however feels like it's generating new cultural landmarks with no connections to reality.

Like, skibidi was absurdist humor, which is now being covered by absurdist layers. It's absurdism all the way down! It's like some twisted form of enlightenment. To clarify I don't say this in a necessarily negative light, I just think it's interesting from the viewpoint of our species as a whole.

I know Gen-Z was experiencing a stage of wanting to assert real connections to the world against algorithmic forces, before covid that is, now I think we're a little scattered again.

I still can't find a way to disprove this statement. Popular vote inherently favors the majority as opposed to minorities and only cares about charisma. And yet, nothing else seems to beat it.

I feel like the very idea of "centrist" is flawed. Sure you can choose not to identify with either party.

But for most of these issues you can't reasonably pick a "center" option for most issues. Sure we can argue implementation but you're either ok with abortion, gun control, gay rights, civil rights, or your not.

Is it really useful to have the "control guns" and "control guns only a little" groups fighting when there's a "school kids are a worthy sacrifice for guns" party?

I feel like the people getting upset over this are taking these hypotheticals of "young looking adults just wanting to be able to make porn equally and that technically the community did nothing wrong".

The problem is that just ignores the fact that pedophiles would definitely use communities like that as a "foot in the door" to a comminity that would naturally have a lot of closetted pedophiles. The issue isn't young looking adults making porn, the issue is a community based around youngest possible looking adults is naturally gonna attract and encourage pedophiles.

It's like they say, "all it takes is allowing one nazi in your bar for it to rapidly turn into a nazi bar".

Got into the Atheist youtubers, then they moved onto anti-SJW and I stuck around. Thought I was being an enlightened logical centrist, "both sides are bad" and all that. So I figured modern feminists were overreacting.

Then the MAGA movement ramped up, now abortion rights are gone. Also since then I discovered I'm trans and now LGBT rights are at stake.
