For their use case it makes sense.

They want heightened privacy features like making likes and follows private, which is something that is incompatible with the current state of activitypub.

Over the coming weeks and months, first-wavers around the world will observe five years with Long COVID. Many already have. Others with related diseases like myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) — who warned us about the long-term effects of pathogens early in the pandemic —  have been sick for decades.

Despite the overwhelming science finding that COVID-19 impacts nearly every organ system and documenting the risk of reinfection, our federal government and health agency leaders deny and minimize the disease. Abelism and late-stage capitalism propel them as the Trump administration rolls back potential progress and disability protections in what one federal worker recently called “fascist and Orwellian” policies. This moment rings with the chilling reminder of the rise of fascismfollowing the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic.

Today, the name continues to address widespread denialism and minimization. Often media outlets state that Long COVID lasts for only “weeks or months,” or that most cases “resolve.” Unfortunately, neither is the case.

Many studies have shown that a large majority of people with Long COVID have not recovered. Millions of us are proof that Long COVID can last half a decade, and that it (and related diseases triggered by COVID-19) are lifelong. This mirrors chronic illness from earlier pathogens: a 2021 study about SARS-CoV-1 found that people infected with this virus were still disabled nearly two decades later.

Here is a pretty good example why in some cases “middleground” “compromise” can be worse than either extreme.

Honestly at this point I feel the US would do great by splitting and becoming a confederation (think EU styles autonomy).

I think the differences are just too big to have a functioning state.

I also understand that the push towards these movements is often done by Russian propaganda, who want to do anything to split up the US and NATO.

There are major issues with wikipedia, I say this as someone with thousands of edits. But I know exactly who you are talking about and they spread pure BS.

The last time I saw them their account was called “ihatewikipedia” or “fuckwikipedia” or something like that lol and they were just spreading conspiracies. Or useless drama. Like they were going on about how wikipedia “invades your privacy”, it IP blocks people and tracks IP’s linked to editing.

Yeah. Stop pretending the healthcare system has the resources to deal with unknown diseases.

If they can’t find a diagnosis, you’ll get told that you’re probably anxious or depressed, or malingering, and get told to exercise and eat healthy. This is what I was told when I was literally bedridden for a year by an undiagnosed neurological disease.

It’s a pretty horrible position to be in. My disease which is relatively common but not taught in most med schools took me three years and 23 doctors before I got diagnosed, even though diagnosis is based on fairly simple clinical observations.

I kinda get what you mean, am I’m really weirded out by how obsessed the US is with ethnic groups, like “black vote”, “white vote” etc, because most countries don’t focus on race like that.

But data wise, Trump barely increased his vote share in white men over last election, but significantly increased in black men, so I think that’s why some data analysts are pointing it out as an interesting shift in the electorate. However to suggest it’s any ethnic group’s “fault” someone won is just stupid. And if you’re gonna do that, try gen-X white men living in the countryside.

No shit. Social media is spreading ruzzian propaganda like the plague.

And the people in power don’t seem to give a shit.

That would set poor precedent. Then anyone could run an election to delay sentencing. That would actively encourage rich criminals to becone politicians.

Honestly. As a guy who is lefty (and bi, but mostly dates women). The dating scene has been way easier these past 5 or so years.

The political male-female divide means that right wing women, and left wing men, are far more “in demand” among heterosexual people. (queer people are majoritarily leftwing so it matters less there.)
