I live in a relatively centrist-ish large suburb in North Alabama, about 65k people. There aren't any stretches of sidewalk going for than a couple hundred feet, maximum. Yeah, I'd probably feel worse for her if she seemed to have felt anything about this. There's no reason to ever feel happy about having killed someone.
