I kinda want one of these. I could load it up with my collection. It'd be awesome. I can imagine my SO's blood boiling already at the sight of "more useless junk"!

And what do you need an electrician for? Turn off power, open a panel, and disconnect the wires. Snip snip. Frankly, I'm surprised a dedicated switch/breaker for a 3rd party kiosk isn't mandatory.

If only I had the space ...

The Next Major Version of Bluetooth Might Help Advertisers Track Your Smartphone Faster

FIFY

Let's not pretend this feature didn't trickle down the data harvesting dog-hydrant to us peons solely for our benefit.

Wow, lot to unpack here.

  1. "Ain't nobody got time for that."

  2. How much arsenic are we talking about here?

  3. "Saving time, water, and energy" is apparently short for boil water, stand around, drain, re-boil more water using more energy, and finish cooking rice. Where is all this time saving happening?

  4. "The margin of exposure [to arsenic] is increased to desired levels". Hmmm I guess if you really think about it that is a true statement, but one heck of a roundabout way to say it.

I heard it said many years ago that if DC won the battle, we'd have power stations every 10 miles and power lines as thick as your wrist.

Converting local power is fairly easy, with AC inverters added for universal compatibility.

But, take note of how many DC voltages you use in your house. Devices in mine range from 3v to 25v and some weird one like 19v for a laptop. You'd still have adapters all over the place.

Would be nice if we eliminate tipping alltogether and instead workers were paid well.

When a kiosk asks for a tip, we've gone too far. Heck, I've seen a fully robotic "barista" ask for a tip with no human whatsoever.

Sometimes we feel like we're screaming into the void

Bet that's how scientists felt the past 20+ years.

"Oh no, those poor ticket buyers. How can we make this right?"

A fit of laughter washed over the C-level executive suite as hardened stoic expressions melt under the absurdity of the line.

For the Ticketmaster empire has fulfilled its purpose once again; to draw out the anger, to be the hated, to consume and regurgitate the evils and greeds of the land.

Lunch is delivered, and that was the last thought on the matter for the day. Talk of vacation homes and weekend yacht excursions permiate the walls; yellowed ever so slightly over the decades.

The delivery driver sulks away, untipped, from the lions den as their phone buzzes with a new notification.

OMG what if Google moves to India/Mexico permanently and is subject to the TikTok ban.

Oh, I can dream. Haha!

Donuts, bagels, 85°, bahn mi shops, heck Safeway/Lucky's/Walmart?

That's a lot of exclusions and a LOT of already screwed over employees not getting a break.

Some of us experience this on Lemmy too.

There are some communities here where users plunge headfirst in groupthought and if you cross their path, good gravy will the down votes flood in. It's not about being right or wrong, it's about refusing to acknowledge alternative points of view.

Water off a duck's back. If Lemmy needs more kindness, be the kindness you seek. That's my philosophy.

There is a nonconductive coating on the wire that also prevents it from oxidizing. The wires can touch, but if the coating isn't scratched it won't short.

Some fine grit sandpaper will reveal the metal so you can solder connections.

It tickles me when I read of journalists protecting their privacy. You can see how far up the tree they've climbed.

There are many, many more ways to track that anonymous phone. These are feel-good settings to disable for that sense of false security; like you're in control. It does have effect, don't get me wrong.

But a big part of tracking is not what your phone sends, but other devices detect. There's no opt out of that data collection.
