I'm familiar with CAFE standards but US politicians don't seem to have much intent on changing them.

And it is not economically unviable, it is just not as profitable because every other country produces and sells properly sized cars with a profit (except maybe Australia).

I find the additional weight argument pretty lame considering SUVs and just general size increases have been adding huge amount of weight to cars and noone batted an eye.

Just 30 years ago, the most common cars in Europe, hatchbacks, weighted about 1 ton. Now, the vast majority is SUVs that weigh 1.5-2.5tons, none have lithium batteries.

Oh, and don't get me started on the SUV/pickup craze in the US - look at the weight increase on that vs a European sedan, hatchback or a station wagon - eletric cars are not the problem, this are.

I have seen several - if you press hard enough to Activate ABS on dry road, you most likely will see the hazard lights on

Oh yeah, like those 500 people that were killed in a hospital parking lot bombing by the IDF, according to hamas but turned out it was a hamas rocket dud and like 5 people died?

Oh so reliable...

Weren't there some Charlie Hebdo happenings regarding some drawings? Can't seem to understand why would they have something against some particular group

Hey, don't bad mouth salt seasoning! Portugal uses plenty of it (due to using salt preservation in the old days) and i think their food is pretty damn good!

If the religion itself is discriminatory towards the tolerant, why should we be tolerant of them?

Simple really - stop importing people from countries incompatible with western culture, like most muslim countries.

Most of the discourse is around anti Islamic immigration so the people might be somewhat discontent with that...

Benefitting how? They were a drain on the Portuguese economy.

Portugal invested more in the colonies infrastructures than in the country itself. The carnation revolution had a few reasons and one of them being that despite the government stubborness, the Portuguese people did not want to keep the colonies.

Why would you drive drunk?

You're thinking of cars, industry and others that have high value batteries.

Power tools, smartphones etc charge to the maximum 4.2V/cell, sometimes even 4.3V (some chemistries safely allow it) because the average person just wants the maximum runtime and will replace the equipment before the battery degrades significantly.

A cow also produces a lot of methane, a much worse greenhouse gas.

Besides, the problem isn't the grass from cows grazing, it's the rainforests that go down all around the world to convert to farmland to produce animal feed.

It's much more efficient to use that farmland to feed humans than to feed cows and then feed humans (1kg of meat needs 25kg of feed)

Disclaimer - I'm not vegan but I try to reduce my meat consumption overall, especially red meats.
