It's pretty easy to know what's actually happening by just taking the opposite of what they say

Food prices are down -> Food expenses are increasing

More jobs for americans -> one of the highest rated of unemployment

X city is full of criminals -> everyone just trying to live a normal life

I'd be inclined to try using it if it was smart enough to write my unit tests properly, but it's great at double inserting the same mock and have 0 working unit tests.

I might try using it to generate some javadoc though.. then when my org inevitably starts polling how much ai I use I won't be in the gutter lol

It depends on the person's age group, if they just hit retirement and the stock market collapses, then they'd feel the pain the most. It could mean delaying their retirement by years.

Younger people on the other hand usually bounce back, unless of course there are other circumstances like war.

How come these 10x devs always seem to actually get requirements that don't change and never need to attend meetings

I'd love that but I live in a x today y tomorrow of business.

Tankie is a term used derogatory that essentially refers to people who are self proclaimed communists that support the CCP and other authoritarian governments that label themselves as communist. I'm decently sure the term is a reference to the Tiananmen Square.

The tankie triad is a reference to the 3 biggest instances for them: lemmy.ml, lemmygrad.ml, and hexbear.net

Now in all honesty I have only seen a handful of bad faith actors. Usually it's because:

  1. They are extremely critical of the US and in extension Israel, which is completely valid because right now the US is a shithole
  2. They are extremely defensive of any communist parties. They deny any wrongdoings of the CCP as western propaganda, take the side of Russia over Ukraine, CCP over Taiwan and HK, etc.

To me it's hypocritical to be against the current authoritarian and fascist US, but also be supportive of the authoritarian CCP and Russia. It's ok to recognize some actions that the CCP has done as an objectively good thing (like modernization of public transport), but they also deny the fact that the CCP has done atrocious acts and essentially bully the neighbors (aka the rest of Asia).

For reference I have no issues with the idea of socialism or even communism, but the CCP is far from those ideals.

Tbh if you return the book the library will usually just waive the late fee because they really just want their book back and nothing more

This article is so weirdly written

One of his points is that a vhs player is easily fixable while a wifi router isn't. These things aren't even remotely the same. They don't serve the same function, they don't have the same complexity. Comparing their repairability makes no sense because they serve different functions. Just because I know how to repair a keyboard doesn't mean I know how to fix a tv.

Most of his complaints are on the capitalization of modern technology, which is not a problem of innovation and knowledge, it's an economics and political problem.

Critique should not involve ripping pieces of work, that's super out of pocket. I'd be devastated if something I was happy with got ripped. It doesn't even make sense to rip a critiqued piece. How can you do post analysis if its destroyed

Isn't nightcore sped up plus (optionally) additional pitch shift? Some of the vocals for nightcore songs sound a lot higher in pitch than what it would be if it was just sped up
