I am a huge fan of immich, been running it for quite a while, it started as just phone photo backup but it’s good enough that I’ve made it my primary photo repository (fully backed up of course). I will absolutely pay for a license but count me as one who doesn’t really like the terminology used.

I would happily put a donated or supporter badge to show off, but the unlicensed just feels a bit wrong. I have no trouble paying for software, especially as useful as immich, but in the enshittifying world we live in, such language gives one pause.

Bought some of the old versions for backup drives. That was a mistake.

It ain’t just young people. I’ve got a lot of lefty friends and family who have been lost and are willing to gamble on turnip because they think there is no way to handle things worse than we are now.

I love the promise of passkeys but it’s been painfully obvious the promises are just wallpaper over the actual intent which is vendor lockin.

They are really living up to the repeal of their mantra.

back in high school I stuck mine in a hard plastic card case. Wherever it is now that I lost it, should at least be in good shape almost 30 years later.

You are right, apologies, I'm talking from the US perspective but we aren't alone, same could be said from several..

I’ve noticed the same thing but fortunately I still am crazy for peanuts. An interesting observation though and now you have me fearing getting sick of them.

A wee behind you (recently heard someone refer to my ‘generation’ as the Oregon Trail generation) but I’m with you.. if anything age has me not just leaning but charging headlong to the left.

No worries bud, I get the feeling and it’s completely understandable when looking at the current landscape. It’s been an amazingly shitty run of luck for me lately so I’m clinging to hope.

This is why I like shower thoughts, makes for great conversation :)

Incorrect, the hyperloop always had precisely one purpose, for which it likely was pretty successful: https://jalopnik.com/did-musk-propose-hyperloop-to-stop-california-high-spee-1849402460
