And yet, somehow his supporters will see this as a sign of strength.

It's like the whole "Never Surrender" shirts with Trumps mugshot on them. Not seeing that the orange piece of shit did, in fact, surrender.

[-] 4grams@awful.systems 18 points 9 months ago

At least they broadcast their hypocrisy up front. 😐

[-] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 26 points 9 months ago

Nah, the irony is lost on them.

[-] theneverfox@pawb.social 17 points 9 months ago

I've made a point to teach people what woke means.

It means awake, as in aware, as in you think critically about what you're told instead of believing it blindly

Conservatives are using the word correctly... They just don't realize what they're saying

[-] DarkGamer@kbin.social 9 points 9 months ago

A shame they're too thick to recognize it themselves

[-] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 40 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

His supporters will never see this unless they saw it in person.
They've been carefully trained over the years to only accept news from conservative sources and those sources will only provide them with carefully curated pro-Trump propaganda.
If Trump went out on stage tomorrow and suggested we repeal the 2nd amendment, none of his supporters would ever know.
Fox and OAN know he's losing his mind and that he probably has some form of degenerative dementia, that's why they won't put Trump on air live and why they scream about Biden's mental health all day.

If Trump went out on stage tomorrow and suggested we repeal the 2nd amendment, none of his supporters would ever know.

Funny thing about that...

[-] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago

Numerous faux pas like this are exactly why Fox or OAN don't put him on air anymore.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

LiberalGunNut™ here! You better believe I throw that out there given half a chance. He also ordered bump stocks banned, which I'm down with.

Great party game! Throw that quote out there and say, "Can you fucking believe a sitting President of the United States said some boolshit like that?!"

Y'all know what to do next.

[-] irreticent@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

"Take the guns first, go through due process second,” Trump said.

[-] zcd@lemmy.ca 16 points 9 months ago

Trump has the most prions, in your face libs

[-] irreticent@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I can see them folding as he speaks.

[-] DarkGamer@kbin.social 11 points 9 months ago

War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength

[-] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 7 points 9 months ago

They’ll just do some whataboutism and bring up Biden’s “cognitive abilities”, even though we all know Trump has been screaming incoherent nonsense since 2015.

[-] zcd@lemmy.ca 58 points 9 months ago

The rapes are also concerning but this is the world we live in now

[-] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 57 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

So, it's obvious that he has some kind of degenerative dementia that's impacting his cognitive abilities. It's been obvious for a long time but it looks like it's getting much worse lately.
If he has dementia he probably has other health issues too.
So let's say he gets the Republicans nomination (extremely likely at this point), what happens if he dies or is otherwise incapacitated by his illness?
Who becomes the Republican nominee? I mean if he's picked a VP at that point it's going to be them, but if he hasn't then who gets the nomination? Haley is likely to drop out after today and he'll sweep the rest of the States unopposed so it's not like they'll have a next closest with votes to put up, and they're not going to have time for a second round of Republican primaries.
I really wonder what their backup plan is because if he's going downhill this fast, he's not going to be in great shape around November.

[-] dhork@lemmy.world 31 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Each party is its own club and sets it's own rules. While the primary elections are kinda sorta binding, the important election is at the party convention, when delegates pick a candidate, similar to the EC.

Even if Trump wins all the primaries, but something happens to render him ineligible/incapable before the convention, the convention can adopt rules that allow Trump's delegates to vote for whoever they want. That's ultimately why I think Haley will keep going until the bitter end. Even if she wins no states, as long as she keeps getting 30+ percent of the vote she will end up as the only viable candidate for the delegates to support if Trump goes away.

DeSantis only said he was "suspending" his campaign.

Enjoy.

[-] ChrisLicht@lemm.ee 36 points 9 months ago

It’s interesting that even MSNBC, stalwart bastion of resistance lib blather, never mentions that Donald’s father, Fred, developed Alzheimer’s.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

It's not hereditary, so "to be fair", it shouldn't come up. Not that fairness or logic or science ever stopped the GOP blather.

[-] Albbi@lemmy.ca 14 points 9 months ago

Dude, Alzheimer's isn't hereditary like Huntington's disease where if you have the gene you have the disease, but there are risk factor genes that can contribute to getting Alzheimer's.

Statisticly you're more likely to develop Alzheimer's if your parents had it, but even with the risk factor genes its not guaranteed that you will develop it.

So talking about Trump's dad having it, and with him having at least his second mental acuity test recently its certainly something that should be considered when voting for THE FUCKING PRESIDENT!

Any bets on how long it takes for MAGAs to start trying to decode the message hidden in this sentence?

[-] loam@sh.itjust.works 17 points 9 months ago

I checked the Q boards, and they're currently giving significance to him misspelling the word "poll".

Thanks for looking. I sure as hell wasn't going to do this.

[-] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 25 points 9 months ago

The guy already slips into speaking in the third person and gave us the "look, having nuclear" speech. His cognitive powers have never exactly been S tier.

[-] Transporter_Room_3@startrek.website 19 points 9 months ago

I was assured that the US was DAYS from collapse because the current president tripped on stairs, and that meant he was completely senile and incapable of presidenting.

Can we get some younger actually-representative presidents up in this bitch?

[-] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 7 points 9 months ago

The problem is all the young people know better than to get into politics.

[-] Ashyr@sh.itjust.works 13 points 9 months ago

I had to watch the video. It's both better and worse than the text makes it seem. It's definitely more word salad than usual. What's fascinating is his audience likely assumes they're the ones who don't understand, given how little of reality they understand already.

[-] autotldr@lemmings.world 12 points 9 months ago

This is the best summary I could come up with:

One clip started mid-sentence, showing Mr Trump speaking in New Hampshire: “Which is incapable of solvin’ even the sollest…smallest problem.

In a separate clip, the 2024 Republican frontrunner seems to be taking the role as narrator, saying, “Yes, oh yes, and quickly says President Trump.

At a campaign rally in New Hampshire on Saturday, the former president seemed unable to pronounce the word “climate” and instead uttered “clime.”

“I don’t know if you saw, but a few months ago, I took a cognitive test my doctor gave me,” he told supporters at the rally.

On Monday, Mr Trump went so far as to claim that he would outperform his GOP rival Nikki Haley in a cognitive test.

Ms Haley questioned Mr Trump’s cognition after he appeared to confuse her with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a campaign speech, claiming she was in charge of “security” during the January 6 Capitol riot.

The original article contains 413 words, the summary contains 152 words. Saved 63%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

I can see what they are trying to do, but this doesn't make the Republicans look bad. It makes the system look fucked and we all realize the dystopia we live in with a senile idiot on both sides of the ballot. Biden is a senile sock puppet to any corporate money anyone can make with him and Trump is a senile narcissist POS racist bigot.

[-] citrusface@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Where's your proof to back up your claims.
