I never understood the boring argument, and I've read it quite a bit online. Every scene has a ton going on.

It starts with a banger wedding outside while the don hears about somebody's daughter being savagely raped. Theres also a short conversation about Fontaine and the movie exec being a dick. Bam, hagen is in Hollywood. You wonder what the family has up their sleeve, bam horse decapitated head in the bed.

Business meeting about drugs, sonny goofs, wonder how that will go - assassination attempt. Hagen held captive. Luca sleeps with the fishes. Don in hospital, another assassination attempt thwarted, scene full of tension the entire time.

Michael decides he's in the business now, they plan the attack, then bam middle of the movie you have an incredibly long tense scene of a drive and dinner that you know is going to end in violence.

I mean all of that is just in the first half of the movie. It's buildup action buildup action repeat. This is not some slow character study alone... It's a master class of character study with plot plot plot.

It's almost ridiculous how much plot there is to be honest. After all of the above there's Carlo abusing Connie and sonny beating the shit out of him. There's Carlo doing it a second time as a trap and sonny getting fucking annihilated by gunfire. Michael escapes to Sicily, gets married, and his wife is murdered in a car bomb meant for him.

The cherry on top is Michael murdering the heads of the other families in one of the best climaxes of all time

Sorry for the rant. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I just don't understand the boring argument, this is not a slow movie lol

Screen sharing is still a pain in my experience. I'm a tiling window manager guy. I used i3 for years. Switched to sway, but have issues because xdg-desktop-portal-wlr can't do application sharing, only entire screen sharing. Well I have a ultra ultra wide screen, so people can't see shit on normal monitors when I try to share my screen. So at work, where I regularly have video conferences, I'm constantly changing my screen resolution so that I can screen share something that looks OK to others, but 1980x1024 looks ridiculous on my end on my ultrawide.

Hyperland can share applications and even regions, which is awesome, and I tested it successfully on my home gentoo system, but it only worked on Firefox. Didn't work for my jitsi electron app and didn't work in qutebrowser. And hyperland isn't easily installable on Ubuntu which is what I run for work because my work computer needs to just werk (gentoo is probably even more stable but I can't mess with long complie upgrades at work and some corporate software is only available as .debs)

So yea my life would honestly be easier if I just stuck with i3 everywhere but I'm stubbornly trying to use Wayland because I know it's the future but don't kid yourselves, it is a pain in the ass

I have the https://fellowproducts.com/products/stagg-ekg-electric-pour-over-kettle and love it, works great and it's the best looking kettle I've seen.

Anybody used this yet? Will this be the btrfs killer I've been hearing it might be?

I do 90% of my TV watching with local content on kodi, the other 10% is live sports. I know the websites and they work very well (as long as you have an adblocker). My issue is - why is it so much worse on kodi using The Crew or Mad Titan Sports? The streams on those addons are nowhere near as reliable as the streams on the popular websites.

Half of the links on those addons do not work at all, 25% will load and constantly buffer to the point where it is unusable, and the final 25% are OK but will still buffer much more than the websites and occasionally just stop completely and you have to click on it to start it again.

Why are the websites so much better? I want to watch these games on my big TV with my home theater speakers, not on my laptop. And I don't want to fuss with plugging my laptop in for every game. Has anybody found a way to cast a Linux computer to kodi? Or are there better addons that I just haven't found?

Used infinity for reddit for years. Tried all the Lemmy apps and liked many of them, but this immediately felt like home again. Thanks for all of the work

Pronounced it as a soft g in my head the first time I read it, and years later the creator said it was meant to be a soft g, so I feel validated.

When you create an image format, name it whatever you want and if it's any good and I use it, I'll call it what you want

It'd be great if this was easily installable outside of gnome. I'd love an easy way to do this on sway or hyprland. Unless there already is a way?

It may not be perfect yet, but ill take the superior design approach (decentralized and self hostable) any day. The details can be improved over time. Matrix can improve its metadata handling, signal will never be decentralized and self hostable.

On top of that, if you get your friends and family on your instance like I have, the metadata isnt even a problem since everything is contained on my server anyway.

Since we're all using Lemmy, an open source, decentralized, self hostable platform, wouldn't suggesting Matrix make much more sense?

I host a Matrix and Lemmy server. Even if Signal is completely trustworthy now, will it always be? It isn't my server and it's a single point of attack for anybody (including governments) to insert (or demand) a backdoor.

Sneaker culture is incredibly weird. Shoes made by children in China with a limited edition color are in such high demand that there are sites where people refresh F5 constantly hoping to have the honor to pay hundreds and hundreds for shoes that cost $7.50 to make. Then half of the time people won't even wear them outside, they'll put them in a bag and change shoes when they get to work or whatever. Or some might not even wear the shoes at all and just display them.

I'm an old soul in this sense. I love a quality goodyear welted shoe, and made in USA, UK, or Italy usually. An Allen Edmonds strandmok is a fantastic everyday shoe for me. I like to purchase nice things in general, use them, take care of them. I really hate throwaway culture as well.

Please nobody hate me for this, I'm a bit self conscious being an admin of my own instance and don't want to piss people off haha. If you're into gym shoe culture that's awesome. If I knew you in real life I'd probably make fun of you for a minute if I saw you walking outside in socks carrying your $400 limited edition sneakers, but then you can make fun of me for one of the thousands of things I do and it's all in good fun.

Created my own instance to help out. Created a few communities, hopefully they'll become searchable from the big instances soon.

Got my instance running earlier today thanks to some helpful people in the Matrix chat. Intention at the time was to have some friends of mine join but I'm not opposed to having signups as well. Long live open source, federated software!
