I once asked for my curry to be as spicy as they could go. I stopped the waiter and clarified, not 5 stars. Beyond the star system. Enough red chili powder to make the dish immediately and apparently more sour. He had a look of concern, but acknowledged my need for capsaicin. This was the first time I had ever made myself clear, and landed on the heel of 6 consecutive mild “5 star spice” dishes.

Anyway, they bring out my food a while later. It’s completely unspiced. I’m really hoping, on reflection, that no one else received the masochistic dinner I ordered.

We can go milder

  • Midwest Mild
  • Minnesota Middling Mild
  • Wisconsin Wildly Mild
  • Indiana Insanely Mild
  • Ohio One Mild to rule them all and in the blandness bind them

I don’t like water. It’s too spicy.

Could be even more mild - European Extra Spicy

European spicy is the same as American spicy, and both vary wildly between countries/states. Portugal or Spain have mostly the same range as Texas or Louisiana for example.

I think I'm American medium but how does that compare to mild?

They are listed in the picture from mildest to spiciest.
