Ok as a lesbian I just want to say that this is not a Lollapalooza specific thing, this kind of thing is not uncommon.

[-] Pudutr0n@lemmy.world 101 points 2 weeks ago

i know! It's so disrespectful that these places get so much attention, but there are so many! Let's list all the places that gather this outrageous attention!

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 weeks ago

Well typically it's a performance for other lesbians not straight guys so if you're in the scene you'll find out...

[-] Pudutr0n@lemmy.world 52 points 2 weeks ago

Did you just assume my gender? cause... what gave it away? Was it the blatant disrespect for anything other than my own needs?

[-] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

Is it lesbian mud wrestling or is it sparkling same-sex sexy grappling? Trying to figure out if WWE is gay platform wrestling by the same definitions

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 weeks ago

I know a lot of gay pro wrestling fans.

In sumo, Ichiyamamoto literally has a life sized poster of Wakatakakage in his bedroom (they're the same age).

[-] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 9 points 2 weeks ago

Wait are you saying lesbians as a whole will just see a pile of mud and have a intrinsic urge to wrassle?

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

I prefer being beaten with a stick by a beautiful girl, personally, but yes, many lesbian flirtation displays involve relatively stupid relatively low stakes violence.

Just like many straight courtship displays.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah the stupid, silly, and more adventurous flirtation is usually in certain types of space, but when I see it happening I feel so at home. Two girls making eyes at each other over a stupid feat of strength or toughness or whatever else gets me to let my guard down

I mean kinda yeah at least enough of us do

[-] eurodyne@piefed.world 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

How is this news? Isn’t this a normal, scheduled event at lollapalooza? I haven’t been in a very long time, but… Isn’t this normal?

Iirc, there’s a whole schedule of mud wrestling events

[-] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

If the news can run "story about a struggling individual or animal overcoming odds through community support or sheer will, like the sickly squirrel nursed back to health by a man trapped in a collapsed cave."... For the thousandth time...

Let's just say I would rather watch this every year

[-] eurodyne@piefed.world 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Yeah, well, I will admit that “lesbians mud wrestling“ is a fucking ton of fun to watch

Lollapalooza or not

Comparing lesbian mud wrestling to a sickly squirrel is a bit rude, even in the context of “what might best grab headlines”. I know it was a joke, but still…

Equating people with animals, even indirectly, isn’t nice. It sets the precedent that there is a context where that’s acceptable, when that’s not acceptable in any context.

[-] Tarkcanis@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

90% of the peole watching... women.

[-] titanicx@lemmy.zip 33 points 2 weeks ago

Well. They did say lesbian.

[-] dephyre@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

I'll be in my bunk.

[-] theblurstoftimes@leminal.space 9 points 2 weeks ago

Time to dust off this classic:

This thead is useless without pics.

[-] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago

This is the Insta reel (I don't think it's necessary to read the article, and that site is full of trackers - yes, more than Instagram).

[-] gwl 7 points 2 weeks ago

The audience really do feel like they're performing to camera rather than genuinely having fun 😥

When I was young: “These events seem lame.”

Now: “These events are lame and my back hurts.”

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

When I was young: “These events seem lame.”

Now: "I should go to Lollapalooza."

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

I can’t wait until they start selling lollapalooza pearls.

[-] thethrilloftime69@feddit.online 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I live 15 mins from Grant Park. It is still the biggest event in Chicago every summer without fail.

[-] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Stupid people being stupid

You sound like a lot of fun to be around.

[-] DudeImMacGyver@piefed.social 5 points 2 weeks ago
