This is an everyday reality to me. Wife is very modern looking and stand out in the crowd due ti her curly hair.
I have zero interest in fashion and cloths. I just wear a jeans and a shirt, which are usually the most common and boring type. I always wanted to blend in the crowd and disappear.
In my country the class division is strong and more visible. My overall appearance will make me look like someone with a blue collar job. We moved to a new place recently and there were several occasions where many people mistake me for a worker instead of someone living in the building.
The switch in tone and mannerism when they realise I'm living here is bloody hilarious and disturbingly sad. Rude work supervisors become instantly polite, there is 'resident only' lift, and the attender told me to take the other lift multiple times, and the list goes on.
I really don't like it, not because "I" get treated like this, but people discriminate aginst workers. Now I have to live with it.
