Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

[-] velma 82 points 2 months ago

See, the thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in.

[-] deranger@sh.itjust.works 44 points 2 months ago

I’ve used this exact line talking to some Arsenal fans here in the states and it actually worked.

[-] the_flying_pig@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

Did you all go on a heist afterwards?

Hey! What is Jen doing with the internet? Are you insane? What if she drops it!?

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago

I'll just put it over here with the other fire

[-] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Ha, that was actually the other quote I considered commenting. Great minds.

The IT Crowd is a show about two to five people in a room talking to one another. They did this for six episodes a season and the show ran for four seasons. This produced one of the most watched television shows on the BBC Network.

[-] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 56 points 2 months ago

Uh isn't almost every sitcom two to five people talking in a room??!?

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 34 points 2 months ago

And they're a hugely popular genre.

[-] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

Yes. Whales swim in the ocean. Snow is frozen water.

Are we just stating facts for fun or do you have some point you're trying to make?

[-] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

It's probably an AI account.

Couldn't even get the channel it was on right.

[-] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 months ago

Except AI is less likely to get that wrong, humans tend to forget minute details even more than AI hallucinates them. Or rather, AI is more likely to get important things wrong than humans but humans are plenty capable of forgetting the unimportant

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

it's also every form of narrative entertainment - movies, video games, novels are all people in rooms talking.

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 months ago

And what is Friends or Seinfeld?

IT Crowd was a Channel 4 show.

[-] not_IO 4 points 2 months ago

ik this is bait but they aren't even in the room in the screen shot

As if some TV shows follow the rules of theatrical plays, coincidence or conspiracy?

[-] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 38 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)
[-] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 11 points 2 months ago

Oh, fantastic! I was a bit surprised he hadn't been already.

[-] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 2 months ago

In one of the podcasts Alex said they had been trying to get him in (and he wanted to do it) since the early seasons, but it just never worked out.

[-] antaymonkey@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

We've had Noel Fielding and Katherine Parkinson, now with Ayoade we just need Chris O'Dowd and Matt Berry to round it out.

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Matt berry is about 2 and a half years in to an epic sythesizer solo and can't be bothered.

[-] Leviathan@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Beyond exciting.

Can we please continue ignoring the existence of the ridiculous entity that is the FIFA World Cup?

[-] vogi@piefed.social 31 points 2 months ago

This world cup its easier than ever to not give a shit since all of the matches are locked down behind some stupid exclusivity deal, at least here.

[-] eestileib 3 points 2 months ago

I live in a host city and I'd say we are maintaining our world cup homeostasis. No signs of fever whatsoever.

[-] Gonzako@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

All the spanish matches get broadcasted on public TV

[-] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Yes. We know.

The show was, generally, hilarious.

the fifa world cup 2026 trophy, that is a cup, contains the defecation by dear leader.

[-] robocall@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I like watching the dudes kick the ball and stuff

[-] MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Usually I'm Team Moss when it comes to sports, but since the world cup games are 60% aligned with my timezone, and costs $0, figured I might follow it for the first time.

And its rather fun.
