It’s just the app…. you need to use an app to interact with almost all services these days. Maybe you are referring to having choice to be unintuitive? Sure it’s more work and you have to think about what fits most your needs but i think it’s a net benefit to be even have to choice.

According to the Woke Content Detector it is "Not Recommended" their reason being:

Contains overtly pro-LGBTQ+ messaging. Features multiple LGBTQ+ characters, including the player character. Heavy social commentary regarding communism. Whether pro or anti is unclear.

I find the last part really funny and also fitting for the meme.

Share your own game rules you have made up that are not the way the game was originally meant to be played.

One that I remember is in "Monster Jam" for the Nintendo Wii, there is no free roam but you can play a "destruction mode" that has a time limit but works good enough. There is a map where you can go up on a roof and the goal is to push the other ones down being the last one standing when the time hits 0. That's it. It was inspired by an flash game with the title "one must fall" I believe.

We played this a lot. Its funny how you only need a "interesting" physics engine for a game to be fun.

Love Codeberg. Just wish there would also be HackerHill, BytePeak and SoftwareSummit with federation!

Im eyeing Zig for a long time also as the core developers behind it seem to be really cool and drama free. Which, i know, is no argument for an programming language but cool non the less. Just hope the language itself is also cool to work with.

Hello i should probably ask this on GBATemp aswell but wanted to try my luck on here as well. I have a modded DSi running TwilightMenu++ this comes preinstalled with GBARunner2. GBARunner2 has the option to show a border and center the screen as the GBA had a smaller resolution than the DS, but this comes with an "frame of delay" I am now wondering as I always believed that GBARunner2 was no traditional Emulator and ran natively using the same hardware the DS/Lite Slot-2 used if this is actually true. I don't see much difference. Does anybody on here know a thing or two about GBARunner2 and DSi Hardware? Why is not utilising the same logic the DS Lite did?

The option im talking about Enable center and mask under Display Settings.

Hello,

I don't like how many items/blocks were added to Minecraft. It removes what made Minecraft so special–its simplicity.

Are there any Luanti games that replicate that feeling? "Minetest Game" doesn't have any mobs, and has weird controls. VoxeLibre has too many items.

You could probably fix that with mods or... you know just not using the items i don't wanna use. :) I still wanted to ask here though maybe somebody uses exactly that. I did found an empty server that was running something, that looked a lot like Minecraft Alpha, but I couldn't find what game they have used.

Saw people on here calling the mbin, lemmy, piefed part of fediverse "threadiverse" so i have adopted it.

Also saw nodeBB but I didn't really like the style of it. And I believe that we already have the backend set with lemmy, its just a matter of how the data is being presented. 🤔

Awesome :) In that case it might be helpful to look for a tutorial, I believe i saw one included in VoxeLibre. When you write /help in chat you see a list of commands I believe one of them opens up a wiki of sorts with some "getting started" chat.

Unfortunately the spawn is not really beginner friendly I believe, maybe I should have gone with basic plain fields. There are some not too far off the spawn in the direction of the safe house. Maybe we can also set up a camp there :)

Just played on there myself.

Didn't know the cold taiga was so hard to play in. Especially with a snow storm going on. The constant thunder strikes created a bunch of skeletons, skeleton horses and special skeletons with ice arrows. Soon the whole forrest was riddled with them.

I did manage to create a safe house though. There is also a bed inside for anyone joining so you can sleep through the night:

After the snow storm was over I was also able to bring in some cows and sheep they reside now behind the safe house. Please make sure theres enough cows! If you are hungry you can also go fish in the frozen lake, i put a fishing rod in the chest inside the safe house.

FediCraft - Season 0 (piefed.social)
submitted 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) by vogi@piefed.social to c/games@lemmy.world

Hello dear Fediverse,

I have created a Luanti server for you all.
It runs the VoxeLibre game in its base form.
So it is heavily inspired by Minecraft.

PVP is enabled, rules are not existent. (Except for in the chat. Just please be nice, its just a game!)
It doesn't announce itself to the server list, so welcome to the exclusive club :)

The IP-Adress is: 91.99.227.182:30000

Join and have fun :) You can get Luanti for free here .

The server is currently the cheapest VPS you can get from Hetzner residing in Frankfurt/Germany.
I honestly have no clue how much it can handle so please be kind to the server and share this post with care.
I might upgrade if needed.

PS: Could be cool to join with your fedi username, but as i said "rules are not existent".
FYI: I did join before and gave me fly, debug and teleport rights to look for a cold taiga biome as its the season. ⛄

Tips for players coming from Minecraft:

  • Default controls are a bit off (like running on E and inventory I) you can set them in the settings.
  • To show your position press F5 or /whereami 1 in the chat.
  • /tell <name> <msg> for dm. (I could technically be able to read them, so no talking behind my back!)

For now the server will shut down on 12/27/2025 12:59 PM and the world being archived, but if this is actually being used i might reconsider.

PPS: This is no gaming news, but I asked @PerfectDark@lemmy.world and they told me that it is okey to post. Just keep in mind that, for all the chaos on the server that might or might not ensue, I am to blame. :)

Sorry, I forgot to add the /s.

But thank you for the calculations, it's actually interesting :) I was thinking about that myself, but didn't bother to do the math.

I thought its reminiscent of cryptomining as it also consist of guessing an arbitrary number just for fun.

is this cryptomining? /s

Hello,

I am fairly new to Debian and only recently have switched from arch to Debian (sway). I really love it so far btw. feels a lot more stable.

Sound is also working. However I do not have a way to control the volume right now. On Arch I had PulseAudio with pactl. I would like to not use PulseAudio and just rely on PipeWire as it seems to be the future (at least for now). What kind of CTL do people on here have setup to control audio? I believe alsa-mixer works also, im just a bit scared of going of the beaten path and wanna do things right.
