Still think hiding the score would go a long way.
Even if it is just a slight bias you get, it does skew your opinion to the "correct side" i think.
I like that the fediverse does not have any sort of karma system, that does already help.

Maybe Photon can have that as a feature? Love your client so much btw. big fan.

I don't know why but one time after getting groceries, walking back home I had this thought all of the sudden in my head about how weird it is that Bruno Mars is a real human that he exist and most probably is currently walking somewhere on the very planet I am on. It was so vivid and just weird why it was Bruno Mars of all people. I did not have heard his music since his hits hit the charts and even then was not a real fan of his.

I'm telling you there is something about him, maybe it would explain his last name though.

Yea, i think that is why i have deleted it as well. Already got a feeling that I dont have much interest in the kind of companies that would be linkedin only.

[-] vogi@piefed.social 10 points 3 days ago

Thats a fair point, I do wonder though how long it would take for company to realize though, cause afaik you can make shit up on linkedin as well. Not sure if the companies get notified about that and if they can revoke such a claim.

I have deleted my LinkedIn Account after a long time of inactivity with occasionally logging in to "connect" with somebody.

I told 2 people about this, both of which were rather surprised and immediately asked me what I would do if im back to search for a new job. I got my current job through a normal job listing website and sent the application directly to the company, that was 8 years ago I don't know why that would not still be viable, but their questions still made me unsure.

Has anybody on here found a job recently? Did LinkedIn help you in a big way, do you think it would not have been possible without? Am a web developer btw.

I mean of course it does help to spread your wings a little more. But on the other hand opening LinkedIn gives me instant depression, so i think you have to value in those things as well.

EDIT:
Or if you are HR would you see it as a negative if you received an application with no existent LinkedIn account?

Thanks you for providing the link. Played Mario Kart Wii Deluxe Blue Edition last week in 4 Player mode on Dolphin with a 1080. Almost no Track ran at 100% speed, not even on native resolution. :( So i doubt this will ran any better especially on real hardware. But i wanna try again and check if I had any weird graphic setting set on or something.

I also do not like this kind of sentiment. Sure in a perfect world it would be slightly better if we all are distributed equally on different servers. But the biggest advantage of the Fediverse still stands, even if we all are on a central instance. If mastodon.social ever looses its shit for whatever reason, its still possible to move without loosing connections.

I think ridiculing new folks about "rules" like this make the Fediverse less inviting and is counter productive. And to be honest the experience on .social is far better than on smaller instances IF you are coming from twitter and are looking for something similar. When I see new people on .social im happy that they even joined Fedi.

Yea, that does makes sense. Just noticed I have been doing that yesterday on the DSi and not the 3DS, it works there too, which is interesting as they seemingly did not change too much about their approach then.

If you "like" spaghetti code you might like Skawo? They got some good vids to watch alongside eating your cereal in the morning about the code of various Nintendo DS games.

Thank you for getting back to me. I have added -filter:a "volume=1.5" as at least for me the resulting files were really quiet. For Debian there is https://packages.debian.org/stable/sound/fdkaac I just have to add the non-free component to your sources. Its crazy how specific they made it, I am wondering how many got it working back when the DS was in its hayday.

Just noticed that Stackoverflow has a new front end in Beta. I do not like it, however I slowly begin to fear im just another boomer. :( What do people on here think about it?

I think the beta looks just like any other weekend project with cookie cutter elements. There is nothing to differentiate it from other sites that are made after 2020. Current design is also way more concise Im not sure when we started using the whole widescreen for a website. Sure wasted screen estate is unfortunate but long mouse travel times are also uncool.

Hello, I am currently building an arcade machine which is intended to run indie games built natively for Linux.

For that I want to use the wayland protocol because it feels like the most sensible option I have nowadays.

Currently I am using sway as I am already using it as my daily wm and it can be configured very easily into a kiosk mode. Everything works perfect and I have no problems what so ever!

Which is why I want to ask if there is a even more bare minimum setup to run Wayland apps?

Hello all,

I ran into issues using Godot under Debian Trixie and Sway ( 1.10 )
These issues were fixed in 1.11.

Somebody on here recommended me the Debian Backports which look really cool. Unfortunately sway has no Backport as of right now, so I have used the Testing repository for this with a PinPriority so low it does not Update other packages.

This does work and all problems are resolved, my question now is:
When installing sway from testing it has naturally also installed its required dependencies from testing. Does having those dependencies installed which other packages (from stable) might depend on as well introduce weird behavior incompatible issues? I mean they are not in a special testing sandbox nor have some unique namespace, this sets my alarm off right away.

I have used a rolling release distro before and it was surprisingly stable all things considered so I am considering to go full testing on Debian. Does anybody on here do the same?

It’s so weird, i read this in a bunch of jon listings nowadays. How the fuck is it a requirement?!?! You should be fluent in CPP, but also please outsource your brain and encourage the team to do so as well. People are weird man.

Reminded me that Mark Ruffalo actually created a Mastodon account in 2022. For a second i thought it was just fever dream i had, but it is actually true

Stopped posting on it in favor of bluesky though.
