They can't be too far away from the frontline if they are releasing them that close to the ground even if they have a bit of upward momentum (you can tell how heavy those things are though in the way they don't continue flying up into the sky much when they are released), I can't imagine more than a couple of kilometers? Maybe I am way off though.
It shows the confidence and bravery of these pilots though, they have to fly knapp-of-the-earth, then do essentially a shot-putt with massive bombs up into the sky... and then IMMEDIATELY u-turn at a fairly low altitude.
It isn't like they can rely too long on the same low altitude flight paths either...
Note that preceding these fighter-bombers coming into the area there was likely a forced overmatch of Ukrainian drones projected forward into the airspace providing the effective operational pressure to create a window of opportunity for the fighter-bomber to use. That is the thing about fastjets, they need an uncomprehensibly small window of time to do a massive amount of damage, and drone swarms are perfect for creating those short windows of opportunity.
