A federal immigration officer wanted in the shooting of a Venezuelan man during the Trump administration’s Minnesota crackdown was arrested Friday in Texas, authorities said.

Christian Castro, of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, was taken into custody 11 days after Minneapolis prosecutors charged him with assault and falsely reporting a crime in the Jan. 14 nonfatal shooting of Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis.

Hennepin County, Minnesota prosecutors said the state’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension located Castro, 52, in Texas, and the Texas Rangers said they assisted in the arrest in Cameron County, which borders Mexico in the southernmost part of the state.

Excited for this guy to get absolutely zero punishment... I'm genuinely shocked there's even one case of this, but because it is the one case that I've heard of I'm sure they are only doing it so they have an example to hold up for their dog and pony bullshit. I want to see that fucker that shot Renee in the face arrested and dragged through the street

Was he attempting to flee illegally into Mexico? Oh, the irony.

There's an unusually high number of Hispanic ice agents.

Not that unusual if you know a lot of hispanic people in the US. There's a lot of pulling up the ladder and pick-me-ism. People who "did it the right way" and succeeded purely on their own merit (not like those illegals). These people vote republican, may consider themselves white and even be white nationalists - like the proud boys leader who was hispanic (edit: enrique tarrio, forgot his name. Man is an afro-cuban white nationalist smh).

Plenty of hispanic ppl who aren't like that, obviously. But it's common.

[-] Zahille7@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago

Tarrio will always be hilarious to me, in a literal sense of the word.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 12 hours ago

and black ones, apparently its done on purpose the P47, BECAUSE THEY can redirect the anger towards ice agents to black, hispanics instead of white agents that are doing more heinious shit behind the scenes.

Nazi Germany convinced some Jews to work for them before starting the full Nazi machinery of gas chambers. A proportion of any society will buy into the desensitising marketing.

10,000 hours of community service taking care of the homeless.

(Which is perfect. He'll either grow as a person and learn to love work that helps people ... or he'll suffer through every minute of it. Win/win!)

In before Trump pardons this man like the evil fuck he is and sets the precedence for every ice agent in America that it's ok to just kill anyone you want for any reason.

I garuntee you it's going to happen, Trump wants a full on genocide, the dude practically worships Hitler. Maga at this point is a terrorist faction.

[-] bran_buckler@lemmy.world 36 points 17 hours ago

Minnesota prosecutors These are state charges, not federal, so Trump has no power to pardon this one, only the MN governor could.

[-] Meat_Of_Nan@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

That's good news. As long as the Minnesota government doesn't worship Trump, this stain can face some justice.

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 16 points 17 hours ago

Tim Walz isn't going to pardon him.

Best News I heard all night.

We need a golden net pin, statue, thingy to commemorate catching these subhumans, like all the golden gifts they've been giving each other for committing their atrocities.

[-] Zahille7@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

What might that even look like? Personally I feel like we shouldn't go into skull territory, but I'm not a designer.
