The Department of Justice is considering settling Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the IRS, which could send taxpayer money directly to the president’s pockets, according to a new report. Trump sued the IRS and the Treasury Department for $10 billion in January, accusing the agencies of failing to prevent a leak of the president’s tax information during his first term. The DOJ is now holding internal discussions about potentially settling the case, and what that would look like, The New York Times reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. One option that the DOJ and White House officials are weighing is the IRS potentially ending any audits of Trump, his family members or his businesses, according to The NYT.

He has no morals and empathy. That's really the secret.

We could be close to the same level of success (although president is pushing it lol) if we didn't care to fuck people over all the time.

Honestly it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion like yeah you're super rich and people listen to you but so what? I'd rather be loved and cared about by my family and loved ones and have empathy and compassion for my fellow man.

I mean some money would be great lol but if I had to sell my soul for it and be one of the people he is or is in his cabinet I just wouldn't even want it.

I bet in a way it actually is difficult to grow up the way he did because he just views understanding your common man as a weakness and doesn't even realize what a huge part of the human experience he is missing out on, and he can't ever buy it.

Fuck him though I'll be glad when the McDonalds and diet coke does the job.

He has no morals and empathy. That’s really the secret.

Also, he's a Republican.

The decades-old rule of "IOKIYAR" holds. I have to laugh that the right thinks there is or ever really was, a "liberal media".

If the corporate media was actually "liberal", the media would constantly be covering this one-family crime wave. Every single mention of PEDOnald would list all his crimes, the suspicion he is under as a pedo, list that he's been convicted of rape, as well as all the cryptocrimes he and his sons are doing...

Because he's actually not stupid in the way we think he is. He has figured out IN SPADES how to monetize political anger, then ride that wave of grift

[-] LincolnsDogFido@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

He's definitely as stupid as he seems. Other, smarter people just see how dumb he is and how much power his position has right now and feed him ideas. Then they all get to make money off it.

[-] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Because Americans are even dumber.

[-] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

I've been getting this bleak feeling that the reason most successful hucksters seem to be dumb as rocks is because they are, and so are a huge number of people who fall for their shit. You, me, or anyone who can read words with more than 5 letters wouldn't even try the shit they do because we wrongly assume that no one would be stupid enough to fall for it. But they're idiots, confident idiots who think its a great idea and then succeed because there are way more dumb people out there than is comfortable to think about.

[-] koella@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

Confident idiots in sharp suits make up about 90% of the male C-suite.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

And a lot of them don't even bother with suits any more.

The fact that Donvict practically made wearing a suit his brand tells me he's even dumber than the average C-suite type.

I know a lot of idiots think someone in a suit knows what they are talking about, but when I see someone dressed to the nines walking into a business situation, I usually suspect they are going to be full of shit and dumb as a bag of hammers. Donvict is after the idiot market.

But he's NOT taking a Presidential Salary so it's OK!

-Free Thinking Republicans!

[-] athatet@lemmy.zip 17 points 4 days ago

But also he still is taking the salary.

[-] llamatron@lemmy.world 44 points 4 days ago

Hey America, your corruption's showing.

[-] Soulphite@reddthat.com 19 points 4 days ago

The sane and intelligent one's know it, warned about it, try to fight against it; however, there are an overwhelming amount of dumb people defending it and about a handful of people with more money than all of the country's people combined also defending it... it's a rigged battle.

[-] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 40 points 4 days ago

He not only oversees the IRS now, he oversaw it during the leak. How can this possibly go forward?

[-] prole 16 points 4 days ago

Because he also oversees the DOJ, whose decision it is to settle or not.

Yeah, it's real fucking stupid.

[-] Corporal_Punishment@feddit.uk 17 points 4 days ago

America is becoming a failed state at this point

[-] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Becoming? Look around man.

[-] aarch0x40@piefed.social 20 points 4 days ago

No. This case should have never even made it to a docket.

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 16 points 4 days ago

Considers?

Haven't they already done this several times before?

Anytime Trump wants more money, he just sues the government and then orders the DOJ to settle the lawsuit.

[-] prole 5 points 4 days ago

Damn, free money glitch.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

The scheming and the fraud and the grifting is being rubbed right in your face.

[-] Furbag@pawb.social 6 points 4 days ago

Blatant corruption, but MAGA still gargle his balls daily.

[-] obvs@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

"Considering".

[-] santa@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

10b! That’s way too much for a f’in leak bro

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

Was this not obvious to everyone the moment he filed suit? That was months ago. I didn't know anyone was unaware of how this would go.
