I love when media plays stupid. It isn’t a joke.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 41 points 3 weeks ago

Fuck the media. They should have been reporting on project 2025 nonstop during the election. Somehow it's not considered "objective" reporting to say when a political party are objectively fascists who intend to strip away people's rights

[-] santa@sh.itjust.works 10 points 3 weeks ago

Maddow did. Every day. MSNBC

He's not kidding. He's building a fucking ballroom, a project that will go past 2029. He has no intention of ever leaving office. He won't leave unless physically forced to. Fuck you if you think the government will make him leave just because the law says they will

[-] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 20 points 3 weeks ago

I think a cardiovascular event will sort it out eventually. Let's hope it happens sooner rather than later.

[-] 13igTyme@piefed.social 13 points 3 weeks ago

Should have happened 30 years ago.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago

But will that end the fascist regime?

[-] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago

Probably not, but at least the personality cult will after not long, and until that It's going to be funny as shit seeing C.F. Vance flailing around trying to take it over.

[-] tankplanker@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

It amazes me that Trump has such a cult, at least with Hitler he was famed for his speeches being mesmerizing in a vaguely coherent fashion while appealing to the wildly racist and anti Semitic base, Trump just comes across as a rambling, racist Grandpa Simpson if he had a grade four concussion.

[-] runiq@feddit.org 10 points 3 weeks ago

Three guesses as to why he wants to build a bunker underneath.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago

To follow in his hero Hitler's footsteps?

[-] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 64 points 3 weeks ago

Haha its all fun and games until people break and a prominent white building gets burned down during a very important meeting!

[-] 13igTyme@piefed.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

As long as the entire administration is there.

[-] Vieric@piefed.social 53 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah... jokes. Anything bad he says is always a joke, even when it isn't. Hell, especially when it isn't. These stupid media fuckers need to stop with the damn kid gloves. But hey, long as they get their money they don't give a fuck about us, hell, they'll even sell us out to the highest bidder.

[-] prole 5 points 3 weeks ago

It's literally never a joke with this guy

[-] xerxes@piefed.social 49 points 3 weeks ago

Do you want a civil war? Because this is how you get a civil war.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 26 points 3 weeks ago

The only people willing to do civil war in a meaningful number are being pardoned for j6.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 weeks ago

I've said this 100 times. Our side is woefully unprepared and unskilled in this area.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 7 points 3 weeks ago
[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

A phrase I heard 20 years ago that stuck with me about people who want to move to the woods if things get bad: "if you aren't already prepared, it's too late."

I hope they were wrong. They probably weren't, though.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 6 points 3 weeks ago

Sun Tzu said the battle is won or lost off the field. Every victor was delulu just enough to win.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 weeks ago

"Delulu" is a great word.

[-] BigBrownDog@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

War is more than shooting guns. Taking down grids and disrupting supply lines are all effective.

I thought Russia would take Ukraine in 3 days. Russia might have a bigger army, but a bigger stick doesn't mean bigger brain.

[-] 13igTyme@piefed.social 4 points 3 weeks ago

Plenty of Dems know how to shoot and own a gun.

The people of Ukraine were woefully unprepared a few years ago as well. People learn quick with the right motivation.

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

[-] lennybird@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

In before SCOTUS declares US Constitution unconstitutional.

(too late?)

[-] baronvonj@piefed.social 11 points 3 weeks ago

It only says a person can be elected to at most two terms. It doesn't say they can't be perpetually elected Speaker of the House and then succeed to President when the elected President and Vice President both resign. So that's why we need a Democratic-controlled Congress to elect Obama as Speaker and then impeach and remove Trump and Vance.

Laws without enforcement are just words on a piece of paper.

Not to mention, amendments have been repealed before. And if anybody thinks that Trump will do it through official channels, assuming he bothers, I have a bridge to sell them.

[-] Maggoty@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

You see, they forgot to define "Term". Just because there's an election doesn't mean it's a term. It really means you get a second chance if you're voted out, but not a third. Unless...

-SCOTUS 2028, Probably

[-] return2ozma@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago
[-] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 weeks ago

It says they can't be elected to office. What about when he cancels elections and extends his existing term indefinitely?

[-] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

You don't get to remain in office in the USA without winning an election.

[-] running_ragged@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Something something felon...

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 34 points 3 weeks ago

What does that say about America's politics when our only hope of stopping Trump is McDonald's

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 weeks ago

I don't think his death will even solve this problem. Vance will probably be worse

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 21 points 3 weeks ago

Have you seen the instructions for eating an elephant?

One bite at a time.

Even a baby step in the right direction is the right direction.

[-] 4grams@awful.systems 5 points 3 weeks ago

Thank you. I live for comments like these. I feel this sentiment is lost on most these days.

[-] paranoid@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago

I can't wait until he suggests his eldest son should take over after he dies because how much worse can things get?

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago

I don't think Trump likes his kids that much.

He's also worked fairly hard to not have a successor, because he's a malignant narcissist who doesn't care what happens after he's gone.

[-] Sunflier@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

You know what? I think its time to set up an seperate national assembly of some sort to address the actual problems of the people. Let's just pat the rich on the head, let Congress go sniff tRump's farts, then go govern the addressing of actual problems (the unaffordablility of food, the lack of healthcare to the masses, global heating, AI causing mass unemployment, etc.). Our government clearly refuses to address the actual problems of the masses, so lets collectively assemble a seperate but equal governing body to address them ourselves.

[-] ButtermilkBiscuit@feddit.nl 5 points 3 weeks ago

We have the right to abolish the government - https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/declaration-transcript

The question is will those in power turn the military towards the people and try to kill citizens acting legally? The answer is absolutely they will kill as many as possible to preserve their world order where the rich get everything and you get nothing. The only hope for our side is that there are far more of us then there are of them - even when you count the pedophile loving magats.

"Cracks a joke". Nobody just says "cracks" that way. Clickbait title choice.

[-] Maggoty@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago

"Crack a joke" is in fact an English language idiom.

Maybe where you're from but globally "cracks a joke" is a common phrase.

He’s already incoherent much of the time; he’ll be in memory care by then.

[-] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Sounds like he’ll be doing weekend at Bernie’s soon.
