We're governed by completely clueless, unimaginative and corrupt imbeciles. It's so clear to see, it really hurts. They do nothing that actually benefits the country. All that counts is power, and lining the pockets of their friends and themselves (golden parachutes after their time in government).
With these kind of politicians Germany is done for. And half the country is OK with it, or thinks literally Nazis are the solution.
And how do they plan to pay for the climate-change damage that causes? For the property damage, emergency services and insurance costs caused by additional flash floods, wildfires, heat domes, and droughts?
For a bunch of conservatives, this is fiscally irresponsible.

Germany always sucked. Before fighting electric cars they were pushing EU to get addicted to Russian gas and shutting down nuclear power plants. Before that they were split in two countries and one wasn't that great. And before that...

What the actual fuck? Volkswagen makes the best e-cars currently and is the best seller in Germany. Meamwhile, ICE vehicles make us extremely dependent on foreign raw materials (as we are seeing now). What is the rationale behind this? I really can't see it!
The rationale is a lobby paying those making the decisions and a full disregard of consequences for other people.
nope nope. no need. what we need instead is to have incentives for car users to convert to European-made electric cars or to bikes and public transit!
at most, we need to support European car companies to stay up (to avoid the US ones overflooding the market, since those are often not compliant with EU rules). that can be done by incentivising them to go electric/hydrogen, or even solar.
Then, they'll just sob and cry for bailouts when people ultimately switch to cheaper chinese EVs after being shafted for the upteenth time by gas price hikes.
No, they'll do tariffs. This is how 'the West' will decline into irrelevance.
