For a better experience?? Actually hilarious.

[-] JustJack23@slrpnk.net 47 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah their experience, not yours

[-] drosophila 43 points 3 weeks ago

I hate corpo speak so fucking much.

[-] Overspark@piefed.social 33 points 3 weeks ago

Similar to "we care about your privacy" cookie popups that try to trick you into allowing them to violate your privacy.

[-] AndyMFK@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 3 weeks ago

With your agreement, we and our 3753 partners use cookies or similar technologies to store, access, and process your personal data

If it is publicly-traded, it will be enshittified. This is an ironclad, inviolable law.

[-] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 25 points 3 weeks ago

I feel like what we're witnessing is just the end of meaningful innovation in the IT field, so now comes the meaningless innovation.

Well, thank goodness Elon Musk took Twitter private, amirite?

[-] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

Since it’s private, Elon could be content with a steady (adjusted for inflation) annual profit, which would allow him to make decisions that are good for the long-term health of the company.

He just sucks.

If it were public, he wouldn’t even have the option to not suck.

TODAY, on BLACK MIRROR EPISODES in Real LIFE

I kid you not, there's this BM episode where they train on indoor bikes and sleep in pods and have to watch the ad on the screen lest it screeches at them

FUCK YOU TWITCH 🤗💖

[-] j_elgato@leminal.space 23 points 3 weeks ago

Was an episode of Max Headroom where it was illegal to own an off-switch for your television.

40 years earlier, and still ahead of its time.

Every dystopic shit that eventually happens in real life has been featured in a BM episode.

I am starting to suspect that either the authors of BM know something we don't, or that some people are treating BM as some kind of an instruction manual.

I don't care about any platform enough to be abused by it.

[-] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 73 points 3 weeks ago

Joke’s on them, my computer doesn’t even know whether it’s muted or not.

[-] Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 29 points 3 weeks ago

Reminder that Sony has patented technology to force viewers into saying a certain phrase in order to continue past an advertisement. Sure, it sounds dystopian, but just look at how excited the little consumer is to enthusiastically shout the name of one of his favorite corporations!

[-] moonshadow@slrpnk.net 65 points 3 weeks ago

Mentioning this without including the verification can story should be illegal

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago

Some patents are a crime against humanity.

Why the fuck does my browser need to send it the information that its muted or minimized?

[-] hackitfast@lemmy.world 44 points 3 weeks ago

Firefox has plugins to spoof specific tabs as always active.

[-] Astertheprince@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

You should link them so more people can find them easily.

[-] Potatar@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago

I need everyone to look at what you can do with HTML5 "game engines". You want mouse poisiton? You want to know if the mouse is in on the page or not? Internet speed? Audio card codec?

If a 13 years old using the free version of construct3 can do it, capitalism can do it.

"Avoid minimizing or muting for a better experience" Wow, this is beyond nuts.

If i was a Twitch user, i'd dump this right now.

"for a better experience" lmao

i hope the IT stock market crashes so hard

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago

The phrase "For a better experience" activates me like a sleeper cell to be highly alert to whatever product it came from and assume it's trying to screw me out of my money, attention, privacy, or all three.

LOL, fuck your brainwashing.

[-] Retro_unlimited@lemmy.world 37 points 3 weeks ago

Twitch is a SOCIAL website, you chat with the streamer and they chat back. All these ads do is interrupt the conversation and it’s SICK to me. It ruins the entire experience. I don’t mind the pop up small ads, but the full screen ads with sound just trashed the entire conversation. Always seems to happen when I ask a streamer a question then BAM 6 full screen ads when the streamer starts to answer me. No, I’m not paying for turbo or a sub, I’m f*ing broke right now.

[-] 1rre@discuss.tchncs.de 17 points 3 weeks ago

Twitch is more of a parasocial website in most cases though, unless you're watching exceptionally small streamers

[-] moonshadow@slrpnk.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

Genuine social connection is not possible on corporate mediated platforms friend, a simulation thereof is bait in their trap and parasocial relationships are manufactured to slip their messaging past your filters. I implore you to go outside, or at least start building connection with strangers in niches like this vs would-be celebrities in what is essentially a slaughterhouse for processing lonely dudes

A long time ago I took some online classes, and the teacher could see if the software used for the classes was not in focus. I used a VM to run it, and as long as it was in focus on the VM the VM didn't have to be in focus itself

[-] balsoft@lemmy.ml 26 points 3 weeks ago

Fuck I though this was a satirical shitpost but it's real. This seems like the last stop before that patent about yelling the company name to get back to your content...

Use this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ttv-lol-pro/

Run your own proxy that supports tons of VPNs: https://github.com/qdm12/gluetun

Set the VPN location to a country that doesn't or can't get ads (Costa Rica is a good one since they're in the test region for 2k streaming).

Set the extension to use the proxy.

No more Twitch ads.
