I you see masked people trying to abduct someone, those are called kidnappers. You should do your civic duty by shooting all kidnappers in the head.

For those who want the metadata: me too. Here’s how I got it.

  • went to google (DDG didn’t work)
  • searched the name +substack, got the url
  • searched keyword (in this case ‘helicopters’ seemed unique enough) +site:https://[url]
  • found the link

https://substack.com/@beyondbeurreblanc/note/c-204841157?r=9xf7a

And yes, Jan 25 at 9:40am as someone noted elsewhere here.

Kinda wish this had an actual timestamp instead of just "3d" like I know when this screenshot was taken...

[-] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 83 points 15 hours ago

I wish that was mandatory for any social media post to include time and date information SOMEWHERE in the post.

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 26 points 12 hours ago

You're welcome.

(I am attempting humor)

[-] aGlassDarkly@piefed.zip 7 points 9 hours ago

I would deem this a success. Good work.

[-] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 23 points 12 hours ago

That's intentional, and it's why ALL of these ridiculous social media companies do it this way.

Only the present matters. Why would you have anything to gain from seeing history? /s

[-] grue@lemmy.world 19 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

That reminds me: we should demand Fediverse stuff display proper timestamps. Even now, your comment is showing as "41m [ago]" for me viewing it in Voyager, which is just being part of the problem for no good reason.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 hours ago

But then I have to know what time and date it currently is

[-] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

I suppose there's no reason it couldn't show both, or let you toggle, or even provide a built-in screenshotting function that includes an absolute timestamp even while the normal UI displays relative time.

[-] aBundleOfFerrets@sh.itjust.works 35 points 15 hours ago

Some time between the murder of Alex Pretti and three days before today. Which is a relatively narrow range, all things considered.

[-] mossberg590@lemmy.world 32 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

I live in the Twin Cities and this is an exaggeration. I drive by the Whipple building multiple times a week. I am in Little Somali several times a week. I've driven past the Alex Pretti shrine. I've seen one SUV that seemed to be ICE. That's it. This whole time.

Many restaurants are closed or drive thru only. Many people are frightened to leave their houses and volunteers bring them food. There are groups of people guarding kids to and from school.

The fear of ICE is what I see daily. That is what they meant to accomplish.

[-] BonkTheAnnoyed 4 points 9 hours ago

Lol "little Somalia." Buh bye fakey McFaker ain't from around here.

[-] mossberg590@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

Not a common term but I prefer it to Cedar-Riverside- Franklin or "slums in the sky".

What do you mean “this whole time”?

[-] mossberg590@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago

Since Operation Metro Surge started, December 4th.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago

Since Dec 4, you’ve only seen one SUV that might have been ICE?

The kidnappings, home invasions, murders are all exaggerations?

[-] mossberg590@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago

FFS, are you trying to be a troll? Seeing ICE multiple times a day is an exaggeration. Any whistle on TV/ song gets people looking for ICE is an exaggeration. Most people here haven't seen ICE even driving by.

Yes, ICE is detaining people illegally then releasing them without any phone or means home.

Yes, they were breaking into homes without a judicial warrant. That has fallen way off since Homan. They shifted tactics to more subtle means.

Yes, they killed multiple people and there is no faith that it is being investigated. Those things get big media attention and you have seen most of them.

[-] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 8 hours ago

Everything you said is traumatizing. That's not normal and really bad.

[-] mossberg590@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Agreed. But the list made it seem like a war zone. I agreed with parts and disagreed with other parts. This is all from my perspective as well, but that should be a given.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago

? So . . . what’s your point then? ICE’s tactics embody fascism in America but it’s not that bad? It’s only happening a little bit?

Breaking into homes without a warrant “falling off” . . . what, cool?

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

No, their point is that the post is full of lies. Not all lies, and plenty of the lies are based in truths. But they're still objectively untrue. I also live in the Twin Cities and can verify that businesses have their doors open (who could imagine 🙄), people aren't scared by music (???), I haven't heard a helicopter in weeks (they never stop? C'mon, even during the George Floyd riots that wasn't true and there were way more then), there aren't government checkpoints in the middle of Eat Street, and the only cars on the side of the road with their hazards on are inexperienced and/or idiotic drivers who can't handle winter roads. The post sounds deliberately written to make people think this shit is post-apocalyptic here. Not true and not helpful.

[-] webadict@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

I live in Minneapolis. If this motherfucker only saw one ICE vehicle, then they never went outside.

It was this bad, but it has lessened a bit recently. However, they still haven't left, they are still patrolling, and they are still kidnapping people.

Yeah, there is fear still. There is paranoia still. There is anger still. There were checkpoints to look for ICE. There were face checks at schools. Fucking... These ICE pieces of shit were stalking school bus stops! Bus drivers were doing loops until they left!!! Those kids were so confused and scared.

I personally saw multiple of these stake outs. Apartment buildings, schools, restaurants, stores, and bus stops. They always say they're looking for some criminal, but it fucking never is. It's always some guy with 3 kids who is getting home from work. Or some woman whose husband was already deported.

Nah, the OP wasn't exaggerating. Fuck ICE.

[-] mossberg590@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

Oh yeah, helicopters. Nope. No more than normal meaning a couple a day; news and medi-flights. The media would LOVE to show some morons rapelling down from a helicopter.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago

They did that in Chicago, right? When that one ICE guy made history by saying “fuck them kids”.

[-] Cpaq47@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 hours ago

Agreed. I live just north of the cities and drive through them almost daily. What is happening is bad, but this is just an exaggeration. Def haven't seen more helicopters.

[-] LodeMike@lemmy.today 8 points 13 hours ago

How close do you live to downtown? North American cities tend to sprawl.

[-] mossberg590@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago

None of the ICE actions are in either downtown. But I live inside the Twin cities proper, not suburbs.

[-] Triumph@fedia.io 80 points 16 hours ago

Not that I doubt it for a second, but is there a date on this? Would add context.

[-] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 65 points 16 hours ago

Almost exactly a month ago (Jan 25).

[-] dumbass@piefed.social 41 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

America, now is the time to stand up and fight to get your country back, fuck these nazi cunts up.

[-] Bazell@lemmy.zip 13 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Basically the USA is in a state of war. The war between the government + oligarchs and ordinary people.

[-] paul@lemmy.org 6 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Between the government, Oligarchs and right wingers against the ordinary people.

The government can't win without the support of right wing traitors.

[-] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 8 hours ago

Government, oligarchs, and dangerous people in a cult against everyone else that is overworked and fucking exhausted.
