Sigh... I mean... I tried. And while there is much to be said for it, there is a lot to be said against it too. It's kind of a win some lose some deal. Depends on where you live. If I was in the USA I'd fuck right off to basically anywhere, and SE Asia wouldn't be a bad bet. Thing is, they don't just accept people willy nilly. Unless you want to endure a permanent border hopping enema, you need a work visa, student visa, or retirement visa, and those all come with their own hurdles.

Random thought, I know it's still better to not have wars at all, but future wars would be nicer and more fair if losing meant receiving a knock-out kick in yo nuts from a martial art master robot instead of being killed by random boring drones.

You're making a lot of deeply flawed assumptions here.
Imagining bad scenarios doesn't mean it's the only thing one can imagine. Also, I don't think the person specified in what way "we" are screwed; it could have been humanity in general, which would be akin to science fiction as a cautionary tale; it could have been internationally. Also, people often have mixed feelings about technology, and one person expressing a single comment of caution I think hardly defines the failure of all of whatever "western" civilization is.
I'm not making any assumptions, I'm going by what I see as the predominant narrative regarding any new technology in the west. All I see is people moaning how AI or robots will end us all. Whether they're referring to us collectively or just to the west is irrelevant.
My point is that people living under the dictatorship of capital have a negative view of technology because technological progress isn't used in public interest. It's used by the oligarchs for oppression and surveillance, and hence people fear that any new technology will be used to repress them further.
We can contrast this with the mood I'm China where most people are optimistic regarding technological progress because they see technology improving their lives with things like high speed trains, amazing public infrastructure, factory automation, and so on.

It's kind of fun to see you recognize that there are assumptions at play, and then do the same yourself. Technology as a threat. What if the threat is not the technology, but the west's inability to keep their resources from being stolen by shareholders and billionaires? Because that is what is holding us back from developing and making the future ourselves. we just watch all of our resources go to infighting, incompetent management egos, and mega-yachts and fighting progress.

What do you mean, as entertainment? Most people currently seem entertained by these.
But this is just getting started.
As helpful androids? Sure, can it one day clean my house and do my shopping? I'd buy one (though I suppose they would have some awful privacy problems).
As military robots? Can they one day operate a tank? Carry and fire weapons? I can think of a few people that want that.
Well there you go... I guess I am in the minority on this. I don't want these things anywhere near me or my family.
But yes I can imagine cops loving the idea of these things crushing protestors throats in the street.

Why do they look mocap and not robotic? Like if it's a robot, the movements should be far more efficient and literally robotic looking. This just looks like "look, we can make them execute scripted macro movements with micro auto adjustments". Which is an achievement in itself, but not exactly as advanced as this video suggests at face value. I could be wrong, but something about it feels off to me and this is just my guess as to why.

this is beyond impressive, and China is way ahead of everyone else. Electric cars, Robotics, Renewable energy, medical research, Drone technology. The west needs to get rid of the incompetent conservatives that cling to a world that no longer exists or the west is the new third world.

Are we sure this isn’t AI made video? This looks so unreal to me. Last time I saw human robots, they didn’t even go up in the staircase.
it would be very very good AI made, and i have seen those robots do these things in tech demos before, so they definitely exist.
