Fuck! My first account was on lemmy.ee which passed away a few months ago. My second account was on lemmynsfw thinking the presence of porn would be a guarantee of its sustainability. It's like been banned twice from Reddit.

I liked leaving non sexual comments in the NSFW content. Like I would comment on the room decor.

That meme about the cabinets behind the girl with the milk, that was your fault? :D

[-] daggermoon@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

Wait, what happened?

Who cares 🤷‍♀️

If you want to preserve lemmy content launch your own instance and cache it yourself. If you want to control your own communities, launch your own instance and host it yourself.

You cannot expect to atomize your world into billions of isolated individuals without losing something. We need community, individualism will only get you so far.

That just isn't how the fediverse works. It exists in the moment. If you want it to persist you need to back it up or figure out a plan. Just expecting someone to put up as server for you and leave it up forever is fantasy thinking. Doing it yourself can involve teaming up with people to launch instances or pay for service. The people who don't pay it forward and contribute are leeches, not community members.

Sorry, you're wrong and ironically you are the one who does not underatand how the fediverse works. Lemmynsfw is backed up by every server that federated with it (on a per-community basis). The issue isn't that it doesn't persist (because it does), but that the community and potential for new content from that space is now gone. In the future, please ensure you know what you are talking about before engaging in an argument.

https://docs.lemmynsfw.com/ is still up but not updated in 2 years. That's hosted separately on GitHub Pages though, we just know the domain owner is the same

I mean, this beautifully shows that this comic explicitly doesn't apply to the fediverse. Since everything else continues to work. The fediverse as a whole remains unaffected.

I'm sorry everyone. It was me. I recently found out about lemmynsfw and may have overloaded the server.

Bernie Sanders meme. He's standing outside in a jacket, facing the camera. Text: "I am once again asking to bring back lemmynsfw.com

I promise I'll acquire some bucks to donate too 😇
