It’s more accurate to say dems turned into his version of republicans than to say he’s turned into a dem.

[-] Farnswirth@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

Schwarzenegger ain't a republican or a dem.

Anyone who says "screw your freedom", unironically and publicly, in a time of crisis, isn't an American.

[-] Heresy_generator@kbin.social 135 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

American patriot here: Screw your false idea that you have "freedom" to callously endanger others because you didn't like wearing a mask during a global pandemic.

[-] Potatos_are_not_friends@lemmy.world 52 points 11 months ago

"It's MAH right to not be mildly inconvenienced and now it's everyone else's problem!"

[-] psivchaz@reddthat.com 54 points 11 months ago

There's priority to this stuff. As they say, your freedom to swing your fist ends at my face. Being forced to wear a mask does infringe on freedom, but being forced to contract a potentially deadly disease because you can't put on a stupid mask is a greater infringement. See also: you don't have the freedom to drive recklessly, you don't have the freedom to set off fireworks anywhere you want, you don't have the freedom to assault people.

Lol, anyone accusing someone as being un-American for exercising their constitutional right to free speech is both a hypocrite and an idiot.

If you still support an orange man baby traitor who attempted to overthrow democracy and install a fascist dictatorship after losing an election, you sure as FUCK aren't an American anymore.

I'm pretty sure that's not how we determine citizenship.

[-] nrezcm@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

Yeah for sure. Citizenship is only guaranteed if you enlist in the United Citizen Federation. Would you like to know more?

To be honest the weight of Trump is the thing I least care about. i just don't understand picking on it

[-] Szymon@lemmy.ca 87 points 11 months ago

Arnold wants everyone to be healthy regardless of their physical location.

[-] Cold_Brew_Enema@lemmy.world 34 points 11 months ago

Or their political affiliation

[-] iforgotmyinstance@lemmy.world 55 points 11 months ago

It's hilarious because he harps on everyone else's appearance, while looking like microwaved orange sherbet.

[-] robocall@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

True, but like at least half of Americans are obese. It makes a lot of people sensitive to fat jokes.

[-] morphballganon@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

More like 1/3rd, still not great

[-] Hyperreality@kbin.social 13 points 11 months ago

I googled. 42.4% of adults according to the most recent figures. That's closer to half than a third.

2014 it was closer to a third. 2017-2020 it was 42.4%. Given the tred, I wouldn't be surprised that it'll be close to or more than half now.

I don’t think it’s so much his weight, it is all the lying about it.

Arnold is an expert on fitness. He's taking a verbal stab at Trump because Trump clearly doesn't want to be honest about his own weight. So Arnold is offering his expert advice to Trump about how to actually drop weight instead of lying about your weight like Trump did when he was arrested and processed.

[-] ZzyzxRoad@lemm.ee 14 points 11 months ago

It's just a lot like Kim Jong Un or Putin, where he seriously pictures himself looking like Vin diesel. And so do his followers. All those maga flags and political comics actually give him a six pack and make him 6'5. It's gross and kind of scary.

This is great, the governator is basically making yo momma jokes at Trump's expense:

"Yo daddy so fat he runs around himself to lose weight!"

Title in lemmy has very different meaning to the article title

[-] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 42 points 11 months ago

"If he would ask me what should you do for fitness, I would just say, 'Run around yourself three times. You’re going to be in great shape.'"

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 11 points 11 months ago

funnier than the original I think

[-] kurwa@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

I think the title of the article was different before, it mentions a correction and misquote.

When someone lies about easy disprovable things, and shows how insecure about unimportant things they are, they disqualify themselfes from important decision making for all of us. And reasonable people get it. Maturing is on the inside. So yes its important. Sadly.

[-] ShittyBeatlesFCPres@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago

Trump isn’t as fat as everyone says. His full diaper takes up as much space in his husky pants as his giant ass.

[-] Rentlar@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

OP @CantaloupeLifestyle@lemmy.world , can you please edit your title to properly reflect the updated article? yourself vs. your cell. It may reduce confusion.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

You’re going to be in great shape,’” Schwarzenegger quipped during a Monday appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The dig from California’s former GOP governor — a reference to the 91 criminal charges that Trump’s facing in his multiple indictments — came after Kimmel asked Schwarzenegger about the 45th president’s arrest records.

When he turned himself in at Georgia’s Fulton County jail in August over charges related to the 2020 election, Trump’s weight was recorded at 215 pounds.

“Do you think it is possible that he weighs 215 pounds?” Kimmel asked the former bodybuilder, who served on the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in the 1990s.

Kimmel noted that Schwarzenegger no longer “[seemed] like a Republican” due to his longtime activism to fight climate change and his views on other hot-button issues.

Saying he sometimes touches down in Washington to lobby both Democrats and Republicans to fund after-school programs, Schwarzenegger exclaimed, “I think what we need is really leadership to bring people together and to teach both parties not to look at the other side as the enemy.”

The original article contains 486 words, the summary contains 174 words. Saved 64%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

[-] NotAnonymousAtAll@feddit.de 38 points 11 months ago

I think what we need is really leadership to bring people together and to teach both parties not to look at the other side as the enemy.

Looking in from the outside (another country) it seems like republicans are very much acting like the enemy (of the democrats, the people, a livable planet, common sense, ...) in every possible way and no amount of leadership or compromise will get them to act in good faith.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Yeah as an American I can disagree with people about a lot civilly. Republicans are not acting in good faith or towards acceptable goals. There was once room for considering them not the enemy but that time has passed. If they want to stop being my enemy they can stop being republicans. They’re fortunate enough that the trait that brings them enmity can be discarded.
