“balanced and unbiased take on WWII” after calling something “anti-nazi slop” is hard to even call a dog whistle, it’s more like a fog horn.
I 'think' there's a more innocent interpretation in there of something like, "If you're going to do Nazis right now, it might be worth making them more than a cliche villain to spray lead at so people can see how intrusive and insidious the ideology is."
buuuuut "we don't need more anti-nazi slop shoved down our throats" is one hell of a way to say that xP
Yeah, mostly because that’s not at all what he was trying to say with that sentiment.
Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity.
Except for Nazis: it's all malice.
But how do you cross that Nazi threshhold without false positives?
If you complain that anti-nazi media is biased, you've passed it.
That would be a bit more of a valid interpretation if it weren't for the fact that Wolfenstein is set in an alternate universe where the Nazis win the war.
You can hardly make them the classic 'inevitably going to fail' villain when they've been in power for the last 60 years.
Maybe they could add a scene where one of them is stroking a white cat although honestly that's pretty much the Wolfenstein aesthetic already.
Whistling is so last decade for conservatives and the rest of the right
This is what happens when you don't teach WWII history in society.
maybe if america was kinder to their veterans so they didn't shoot themselves... they'd know more about what war does to people
I think we need more Nazi killing games these days.
Y'all are playing games?
Most people are saying “fuck yeah let me butcher more Nazis.” you fucking chudd.
Edit: LMAO they have replies disabled. The true sign of a free speech warrior.
Keeping Charlie Kirk alive in spirit.
They're aware that Wolfenstein is the same game series that had mecha-hitler right?
It's not a work meant for nuanced analysis about the complex political structures of WWII
In fairness, it's a bit myopic to bring Mechahitler, the Super mutant, or even the Angel of Death into it as it's the earliest one-and-a-half games in the series.
RtCW dealt with the resistance fight in more detail, and the Machinegames Wolfy games went full anti-Nazi in the best possible way.
I still haven't a fucking clue what story Wolfenstein 2009 was trying to tell though, but I still enjoyed it.
Also in fairness, we now know that Mechahitler was just Grok all along.
I bought a wolfenstein bundle on steam when it was on sale just because I felt like killing nazis lol. Stayed for the plot.
They're still on sale on GOG if anyone's in the mood for some 'anti-Nazi slop'.
I was certainly not thinking gee those nazis sure get a bad wrap in wolfenstein
If anything they got too much credit. They actually successfully colonized space in Wolfenstein.
"I'd like to hear their side of the story for once!"
The more creative and abundant ways to kill nazis the better it's the game!
That's why i love the killing h*ttler DLC on Sniper Elite series, so many ways to send that piece of shit to hell...
God, I disagree with people who say things are just as bad as pre-WWII; it's much worse. Not that no atrocity preceded WWII, but the Nazis weren't reenacting a relatively recent one play-by-play, these people are.
And if they're not stopped, the outcome will be much worse.
the Nazis weren’t reenacting a relatively recent one play-by-play
Actually they were, they were copying fascist Italy under Mussolini, down to the "roman salute" that Mussolini lifted from Hollywood (and was almost certainly an early Hollywood invention) and given both Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy coexisted in time, they had an interesting geopolitical relationship, with Nazi Germany at first looking up to and emulating Fascist Italy, but then later they reinstalled Mussolini into power in Italy as a puppet state of Germany's
Their main inspiration was America and our treatment of non-white people.
found the fucking nazi
Title is a bit odd. Why the claim that fallout mod devs are all fascist?
I honestly just didn't give the title much thought, it was the first thing that came to mind.
In my experience the fallout community is mostly anti-capitalist and anti-fascist because, well, you know. The theme of the game and everything.
Of course there's always the poor media literacy people who love the enclave or legion a little too much.
I'm actually curious to know what mod this guy devs for? If that part was real anyway. Just so I know to steer clear, ya dig?
Edit: I did some minor snooping around bluesky and it looks like this person claims to be a former dev for FNC (which others say is untrue) and the only real project they've been part of (from what I can see) was Fallout Ashfall, which they apparently got removed from ~2 years ago and they've been harassing those involved since.
Probably more to the story than that, but glad to confirm that this isn't a prolific member of the community.
Nazis should always be punched
Nah, disagree. Don't need any more nuance to WW2. It was fairly straightforward.
Man, do we really have to start playing Charlie Chaplin movies again?
I love that the game isn't even out yet and its already anti-nazi slop. Who knows, what if Microsoft makes the game about saving Nazis so they can get a tax cut??? The game ends during the tutorial because the BJ Blazcowicz is rightfully killed because he was a domestic terrorist?? Not so anti-nazi slop now
lol that account is unhinged.
