I got ChatGPT to write me a silly dialogue ending in this line:

Samantha: "Arthur, how could you?"

Arthur: "What? What did I do this time, Samantha?"

Samantha: "You've put mayonnaise on the roast chicken again! You know I can't stand the stuff!"

Arthur: "But, Samantha, it adds so much flavor!"

Samantha: "Arthur, it doesn't. It just makes everything taste like... mayonnaise!"

Arthur: "That's the point! You know I've always loved it."

Samantha: "I thought you loved me."

Arthur: "Well, of course, I do."

Samantha: "Well, you can't have both of us."

Arthur: "What, you want me to choose between you and mayonnaise?"

Samantha: "Yes, exactly. Do you love mayonnaise or do you love me?"

Fuck me, this is actually kinda funny in an absurd way. Everyone is a bot joke are going to get much more real in the next couple of years.

If I ever go to Germany, I now have an awesome pickup line.

[-] xantoxis@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago

Be prepared for a lot of Germans to pick mayo

[-] Zorque@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

That's when you produce a jar of mayo from behind your back.

[-] xantoxis@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Honest to god I think this would actually work

[-] Jaytreeman@kbin.social 26 points 1 year ago

If you're understanding strictly because of context, how are you supposed to learn the language well. You need to be exposed to absurdity in order to really get it

[-] xantoxis@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

You don't know how much Germans love mayo, then.

[-] orrk@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Germans? not as much, Slaves? damn, they would end the world for one more spoonful of mayo

[-] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

[-] orrk@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

autocorrect XD, that one time you don't check, but ima keep it, it's funny

[-] bingbong@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

Those damn slaves and their... checks notes ... lust for mayo?

[-] kindenough@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

We Dutch need all the mayo. Where are you hiding the mayo?

[-] octoperson@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

So what's this 'hollandaise' then? What are you hiding from us?

[-] orrk@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

we sold it, you'll need to go (to) Hungry

[-] dangblingus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Pommes mit Mayo? Spinnst du?

[-] dangblingus@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

The point isn't to teach you useful sentences to memorize, it's teaching you spontaneous usage of the language. With German, it's definitely drilling all of the specific tense rules into you by throwing random ass sentences at you to translate.

'Liebst du Mayo oder liebst du mich? Scheiß egal, ich hab die Gicht!'

[-] drdabbles@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Jesse doesn't truly understand the German language or people until this question makes sense.

[-] muse@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

Hell of an ultimatum

[-] mvirts@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Seems pretty normal to me 😹

Such an underrated comment

I like how the first section of German Duolingo is learning how to ask for coffee and beer or tea and wine

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 2 points 1 year ago

If you're Doug Funny this could be legit.

It's better to study language from natural sources, yes you can use dullingo or textbooks but learn about natural language from natural sources by immersing yourself in the content of the language you are learning
