I just read this to my daughter and she pissed herself laughing. We beat the game together and said the same thing at the time. Terrible parents, and annoying as shit. They literally tore apart their daughter's favourite teddy!
So this was the point where i was really perplexed. I wasn't the biggest fan of the game, it was fun and i liked parts of it, but for me it was just not really challenging enough as a platformer or whatever. So playing it, i at least hoped that the story would be good. But they were just complete dickheads. I thought they learned something from the teddy, but they were just hiding it? They are either horrible parents or the writers are.
I think the writers may have read the feedback afterwards. There’s a nod to it in Split Fiction (much better game), where the same elephant can be found on one of the early levels. If you destroy it, you get an achievement called Rose’s Best Friend with the caption “You made her cry”.

ER: Furnace golems, bleed dogs, omens

Reaver gets my vote as well. He's actually worse in Fable 2.

He will kill-steal the final boss, the man who murdered your sister (a young child) and who you've been hunting for the entire game spanning decades, if you don't interrupt his monologue first. He does this because he finds him annoying, not because he has any real beef with him.
There's also a quest when you first try to get his help where he "tricks" you (it's very obvious, but writer fiat strikes again) into sacrificing your youth to uphold his deal for immortality with some evil fae-like beings (beings who seem to be connected to Jack of Blades, the first game's villain). He then betrays you to the final boss, apparently just because he's an asshole.
Oh, and he also kills a fan-favorite side character, one of the few people to show you and your sister kindness when you were destitute orphans living on the streets, because Reaver was annoyed that a photograph taken of himself needed to be developed before he could see it.
It's beyond enraging that you can never get back at him for any of these things. He's still around generations later in Fable 3, where he's a wealthy industrialist exploiting orphans. Of course.

Saying "Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3" would be cheating, so I'm going to nominate Elro from Iconoclasts:
spoilers for the entire game
- One of his superiors is nice to him and gives him condolences about his father, and offers him some time off of his job - so obviously he fucking murders her in front of everyone, potentially getting his coworkers' in trouble.
- He gets his wife and daughter killed, right after an argument with the former about how his sister (= Robin = the protagonist) is doing something that might get them killed - AFTER murdering his boss, who was an extremely high profile individual, so he should be running away rather than being exactely in the most obvious place he could have fled to.
- He antagonizes Robin's only ally (known to him), Mina, just because she's ~~black~~ from another settlement with another religion.
No, he does not follow his own society's religion - remember the murder? (kind of excusable, Mina also antagonizes him in the same way) - Seeking revenge, he goes after one of the responsible agents.
... with a sword.
And she has a gun. And she is effectively immortal (save for unconventional weapons (and he FUCKING knows this (again, he murdered one himself))).
But hey, Robin and Mina do have the means to kill agents!
Which is why he... locks them away from the fight, gets captured, gets his arm literally yanked off of him, and becomes a liability. - At some point, he insists on being the one to help Robin with a very important task on a risky quest. She has to fight off two agents, ONE OF WHICH IS THE ONE HE ANGERED, and when he has to push a button in order to let Robin go he decides "Nah it's dangerous, she should just stay here. In a warzone, waiting forever for me to push the button."
Thankfully he gets shot by Mina and his former coworker pushes the button for him. - Only after Robin fucking bodies God himself he decides that maybe she should be able to make decisions on her own.
Been replaying Sekiro recently: Owl is a pretty big piece of shit, even by FROM villain standards.
Tidus in Final Fantasy X always annoyed the hell out of me.

Delphine from Skyrim. Mostly because I wanted to like her. I get why she is a paranoid mess, and if I held a grudge for every NPC that sent me on a stupid pointless quest this list would be miles long. It hurts because she was supposed to be on my side. One of the few people that was with me from the beginning, who actually wanted to find out what the heck was going on with the dragons.
Her ultimatum made me FUS RO DAH her off the top of Sky Haven Temple.
The ultimatum was so stupid fr, like the only reason y'all exist at all is because he turned against his own kind. Just blatant blind racism.
Parthuunax was a mass murderer and loyal soldier of alduin before he had his "come to Jesus" moment. If you knew about a former concentration camp commandant living in Argentina, and he was dedicating his life to feeding orphans the last few years, would it be racist to turn him in to the authorities?
If its clear they're making amends and have completely changed their worldview and it had been thousands of years and the punishment is death... No I don't think I would.
If they haven't taken responsibility for their actions they haven't made amends. Also, I suspect paarthunax is biding his time until the LDB dies and there's nobody who can stop him. Thousands of years is nothing to an immortal, what's a few decades more?

His actions and words clearly indicate to me he has changed, literally the only reason Alduin was defeated both times, this argument is silly. Why didnt he take over the entire time after Alduins banishment if he was just biding his time.
Edit: to use your comparison, if said Nazi turned on the Regime, literally taught the allies everything they needed to know to defeat Hitler, was instrumental in their defeat, and then proceeded to spend the rest of their life dedicated to undoing the damage... Yeah I'd say that's clearly a change of heart and at the very least they shouldn't be put to death lmao.

Hau and Hop from Pokémon Gen 7 and Gen 8 irrationally piss me off every time I have to deal with them. Hop is better by a lot, but the bar is on the floor.

Also just the general conversation between JD and Del in Gears of War 4. The characters are fine. It's just that every single step forward is met with some snarky little quip or joke. Every time. It takes so much of the seriousness away that made the first three games, and Judgment, feel so much more immense.
It's been a while, but my impression was that Hop's entire character design was "what if Hau got really depressed after losing a two or three times?"
I tend not to hate characters that the writers want me to hate. The qualities that they try to use to do that generally just kind of make me hate the writing.
My dislike generally tends to go to characters who I'm expected to have positive attachments to without any events transpiring that would prompt that.
But Morrigan from Dragon Age got to me. Maybe there's just something unique about how one autistic nihilist can inspire rage in another nihilistic autist.
Handsome Jack. Most people find him funny-hateable, but I just found him gratingly annoying. I got two hours into BL2 and quit, then never came back. Which was a pity, because I was playing it with my wife and we had a blast with BL1.

He is just to bland as a romanceable character. Ashley isn't much better but at least she has some growth throughout the series.

There’s an unfortunate dilemma there. When someone makes a Darth Vader or Joker character, many people like them, but some like them without a trace of irony, and genuinely feel that the Empire should kill those horrible rebels and that chaos should reign in Gotham. And that gestures America.

(in the 'written to be hated on purpose" category) Ted Faro from Horizon Zero Dawn, every time you hear his name, it goes "and then he did something worse" . Fuck Ted Faro. Also he's literally Elon Musk, and that was years before he went full Nazi.
Fucking Navi. If I ever hear "Hey, Listen" again in my life it will cause me to go postal. Its was probably part of a CIA mind control experiment that will issue a kill order to all millenials. Fuck that stupid fairy.
Palutena from Kid Icarus Uprising, especially because the internet loves her and Pit's antics, when I remember most of it was mocking him and gaslighting. I dunno, I like a lot of other bickering duos in games, but she just reminded me too much of grating people in my life. Pit is fine with it, but I somehow doubt asking her to be nicer would help if I was in his position.
In a similiar vein, in Coffin of Andy and Leyley (after overwhelmingly positive reviews baited me into thinking it's deeper than edgy jokes) I wanted Leyley to just die after an hour or few, but the difference is, she's flat out evil, and comically so. Palutena is just the realistic, toxic family member, with the excuse being that gods are assholes I guess.
(I didn't mind Pit and Viridi bickering though, probably because she was an antagonist and Pit/the game doesn't praise her as much)
