It's like their ugliness went from inside to outside.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mar-a-Lago_face

Writing for Mother Jones, Inae Oh calls Mar-a-Lago face "gender-affirming care the right can celebrate".[7]

they're against someone else using surgery to affirm themselves, but then they need surgery to affirm themselves

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 39 points 1 month ago

That’s how republicans do

[-] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

Well, tbf demonstrating that the rules don't apply to the in-group is part of fascism. It's kinda funny that they're this committed to the bit though, they look like absolute freakish ghouls now and will never be the same.

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 64 points 1 month ago

Is it just me, or was every single one of these women more attractive before surgery?

[-] modus@lemmy.world 44 points 1 month ago

Surgery? I thought these were PSAs for severe allergic reactions.

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

Lol, nah they did this willingly. For some reason.

[-] atomicorange@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

It’s a specific look that screams “I have money” and in this particular social circle that matters a lot.

For maga, plastic surgery is virtue signaling. Since they have the money to spend on “looking their best” they do so in the most visible way since money is morality to these fucks.

[-] tburkhol@lemmy.world 41 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Doesn't "have the money" for plastic surgery imply good surgery? All these people look like they got TEMU lips and Great Value noses.

[-] onnekas@sopuli.xyz 41 points 1 month ago

You're silly. "Good plastic surgery" is the kind of surgery that makes you more 'pretty' without people noticing that it's actually fake. How are people supposed to notice that you got the money for plastic surgery if the surgery is so good that people wouldn't notice?

[-] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 1 month ago

How are people supposed to notice that you got the money for plastic surgery if the surgery is so good that people wouldn’t notice?

Somehow this reminds me of the Demons in Frieren the Slayer.

Even though suppressing their mana output at rest would be tactically better, because it would allow surprising enemies in fights, they can't do that because they use the display of mana to signal status in the demon hierarchy.

Sorry if that was cringe to bring up. I'm hoping at least some readers will be familiar and find the comparison funny.

Nah, I’m not going to judge women based on their looks. Many women get facial work done, they’re not scum like these.

They’re pieces of shit inside, that’s what’s important.

Recently saw a video from an ex-maga, ex-mormon woman who speaks about these people and it was specifically about this face. she said they look like that because they're doing drag. i see it. it's performative gender expression.

[-] Donkter@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

What interests me is that I've never once heard an actual explanation. "They're doing drag" might be true in an analytical sense from an outside perspective. But it's not the reason they do it.

One would assume the reason you start is because you're encouraged to get some Botox and subtle touch-ups are a very beauty trend among women. But they all end up with very similar features and it's always overdone. So there must be common pushes and pulls. I would just like to hear it in their own words what has led them to this.

[-] andros_rex@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

It’s more that they do what drag typically mocks - that kind of hyper performance of feminine conformity. Classic drag has always been mocking the way that conservative women perform gender roles.

It’s supposed to look like they got work done, because it reflects their commitment to the idea that women should be always performing “woman.” Women are meant to be looked at by powerful men, and they are acceding to that understanding.

Loomer looks more like a drag queen than most drag artists.

[-] digger@lemmy.ca 35 points 1 month ago

The exaggerated features almost remind me of stage makeup. Stage makeup isn't meant to look good close up or under normal lighting, but is meant to be viewed from the back of the theater and under bright lights from above.

There may be a core of this group that was originally styling, using cosmetics, and undergoing treatment with the goal to look a certain way from a distance in photos and on video (but not necessarily up close and in person). From there, the acolytes followed the styles not realizing why they were chosen.

Man how do so mamy have horrifying lips? I'm generally against body shaming but lip and cheek surgeries make people look like straight up aliens.

[-] Soulg@ani.social 17 points 1 month ago

Body shaming is about things that cannot be controlled.

They actively chose this. Shame away.

They rather look like aliens than look old. That’s a sign of mental illness.

[-] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 22 points 1 month ago

Is there anyone that finds this look attractive or is this all misguided attention seeking / mental illness?

[-] laranis@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 month ago

I do wonder if maybe a combination of mental decline and reduced visual acuity associated with age has something to do with it. The features are exaggerated as if to create a caricature of attractiveness: large lips, exaggerated cheek bones, excessive eye outlining. If you can't see so well anymore those exaggerated features might reduce to attractiveness through a mental and visual haze.

If that's the case, if you could build an AI that takes anything and applies a right-to-left filter on everything you'd see how MAGA leadership sees the rest of the world. Maybe that explains the lack of human empathy if everyone is reduced to featureless blobs.

/s, mostly

We shouldn’t discriminate: both maga men and women have distorted views of their own appearance. Has to do with their psychology, I guess.

A big thank you to the moderators of this community for the work you do.

I say this because, even not having read the contents of this thread yet, I know that there will have been plenty of instances where discussions get a bit too... spicy, potentially requiring moderator action. Enforcing the boundaries of civility is a tricky and often thankless task, but an important one. People are angry, and justifiably so. This makes it easy for threads to degrade into toxic chaos, so thanks for trying your best to stop or slow the decline of this thread.

What is with these people. Have they headbutt bees nest?

These images need saving for prosperity just in case future generations doubt the craziness of the MAGA loons.
