After faltering in his plan to found a new ‘America Party’, the world’s richest person is returning to the GOP fold

In the aftermath of his spectacular falling out with Donald Trump last year, Elon Musk blasted the Republican Party as a corrupt force that was "bankrupting" the United States of America.

But now, after months in the political wilderness, the volatile tech baron has indicated that he will once again devote his enormous fortune to electing GOP politicians, this time ahead of the midterm elections in 2026.

"America is toast if the radical left wins," declared Musk on X Thursday. "They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud. Won’t be America anymore."

Believing in other viewpoints, Worker's Rights, and acknowledging that minorities exist is not "radical", you pathetic Nazi.

[-] drunkpostdisaster@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

god damn was a sniveling little bitch. All that money and he still has to kneel down to the party that turned on him a few months ago.

[-] Tenderizer78@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 days ago

Where is this radical left and how can I get some?

[-] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 350 points 4 days ago

"They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud.

Just a reminder that Elon Musk is an illegal immigrant and a fraud.

[-] sausager@lemmy.world 96 points 4 days ago

And America without immigrants wouldn't be America anymore, not the other way around.

I disagree, the Americas were ruined by illegal British, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Russian, Swedish, and Spanish immigrants.

[-] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 20 points 3 days ago

As a German, I like your list.

Billionaires spending craptons of money convincing poor people that even poorer people are their enemy is never good for the world.

If the left in the US was only a tenth as "radical" as they claim, people like Musk and his billionaire friends would have to dodge bullets wherever they go.

[-] Stern@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

"Radical leftists like Bernie Sanders"

IRA be like, "Wait, you're joking right?"

[-] Avicenna@programming.dev 27 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

He means people who oppose shooting immigrants on sight

[-] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 days ago

I don't think he specifically means that. Plenty of other people who use the same term do. But he actually likes immigration because it brings salaries down and his businesses depend on a lot of workers.

I'm fairly sure what he means is people who want to raise the minimum wage and oppose abolishing workers protections of different sorts.

Dude there is no radical left in the US. There’s different flavors of right, one of them is inconvenient to con men. Thats it.

[-] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 177 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Everyone who's not a Nazi is "the radical left" to a Nazi.

[-] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 16 points 2 days ago

The amount he will spend will be proportionately far less than the rest of us spend on general insurances. He'll also claim this as a tax deductible. So it gets him further tax savings and keeps him more likely to stay in a position of power and influence. Fuck that. Tax the billionaire class.

[-] MBech@feddit.dk 7 points 2 days ago

Murder the lot. They don't think twice about killing a worker, we shouldn't think twice about killing them. It's self defence really.

[-] human@slrpnk.net 66 points 3 days ago

I would absolutely love to completely forget who Elon Musk is.

[-] AliasAKA@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago

I’d prefer he be jailed for fraud and corruption and exposed for the sniveling inbred moron he is, first, if it’s alright by you.

The joke is he doesn't need to go "all in" to influence US politics.

We're surprisingly cheap with above board "donations". Let's all pretend that's all they get.

In the 70s, the FBI ran a sting, bribing government officials (congress, judge, etc). They immediately caught like 30 of them, fish in a barrel. It was called "Abscam".

Today, donations from Super PACs don't need to be explained, there is no requirement to divulge. So, they are bribed above board if the charges are "reasonable", if it's more expensive to an absurd degree, they use other means.

Let's say he had to give everyone in leadership of congress and executive and courts a MILLION DOLLARS. He'd still be unfathomably wealthy, he wouldn't even notice it's missing.

They'll sell out usually for five-six figures, or even a lucrative trading tip.

Epstein did a lot of this "lobbying". Sometimes those who need to be bought have certain secrets they wish to share.

[-] heyWhatsay@slrpnk.net 12 points 2 days ago

I like toast. More toast plz

[-] HarneyToker@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago

Yes because your foray into politics was so fruitful before. Maybe he’ll actually destroy his career this time like he got close to last time?

[-] BanMe@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

Tesla's stock creeps ever higher because the insane casino that is Wall Street hangs on his every word. "Well sure, people refuse to buy his cars," they say. "But now he says it doesn't matter." They're betting on the taxi fleet and humanoid robots taking over and fixing everything.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

The level of hopium among that bunch just amazes me. I was thinking they might have one of the highest P/E ratios, but there are apparently many companies with even higher P/Es.

Some of those seem to be medical research outfits, and my guess is that people are gambling on some incredible moonshot kind of thing. I guess people believe fElon's claims about robots, taxis and their "AI", but given his track record on delivering an EV for rigs, let's just say I'm a bit skeptical. The guy also seems to be distracted by a million other things that have nothing to do with running any of his companies.

[-] RaoulDuke85@piefed.social 103 points 4 days ago

What he means is, he's toast.

[-] velindora@lemmy.cafe 47 points 4 days ago

Right. And his billionaire friends who don’t want to get “canceled” for doing whatever they want

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 57 points 3 days ago

LOL, where is this "radical left"?

Are any of these "radical left" in the room with us right now?

I think he's talking more about "any sensible normal American that might regulate my shitty companies".

When billionaires are afraid, you know you’re on the correct path.

[-] BoycottTwitter@lemmy.zip 25 points 3 days ago

People should go all in on boycotting all his companies especially Tesla and Twitter.

Other countries need to cap campaign contributions if they haven't already because Musk has been known to fund the far-right globally.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 76 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

He can "donate" as much as he likes, with no restrictions.

It's not bribery though! See, he just has to make a Super PAC first; they don't have to disclose their source. So it won't officially be Musk dollars. wink wink

Please note that the one with the most money wins over 90% of the time in our elections.

[-] sausager@lemmy.world 24 points 4 days ago

If you aren't out of America in the next 3ish years, good luck.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 22 points 3 days ago

Yeah, the radical right is doing a great job running the country. Housing is affordable, groceries are at an all time low, and unemployment is actually at a net negative. They're just giving jobs away at every corner!

Fuck you, Elon. Eat shit and die. Convince your friend Trump to eat a big bowl as well.

[-] sturmblast@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

He's going full retard huh?

[-] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 46 points 3 days ago

This is what he said about the Wisconsin supreme court race

"I feel like this is one of those things that may not seem that it’s going to affect the entire destiny of humanity, but I think it will,"

Anyone have an update on the destiny of humanity since his favored candidate lost this race almost a full year ago?
