What sense did they ever make? They are a silly, fun party favor ..

Personally I can’t wait to get 2025 behind me. For me this has been the worse year of this century and I was in my 30s when 911 happened..

For me this has been the worse year of this century

Worst year of this century so far....

I'm talking about how the 00 used to line up with the eyes. It just feels forced without that.

[-] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 6 days ago

I can't remember the last year I saw one, but it was dumb.

[-] tomiant@piefed.social 7 points 6 days ago

They never did me any fucking favors!

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but I literally saw offset 2010 glasses exactly like that.

[-] ch00f@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Yep. 2011 was really the year we lost the plot.

[-] bryndos@fedia.io 10 points 5 days ago

I'd say 2002 was peak, best since 1001.

I'd give it to 2007 if the 2 and 7 were written to have rotational symmetry and it were motorised to spin around the bridge.

8008 (with motorisation) will probably be the true peak though, and it's the only compelling reason to suffer through and try to prevent collapse of this civilisation - or at least save this calendar system.

It's true. With COVID and the cost of living it is has been a bit depressing for the last 5 years.

What can we do to make 2026 better ?

Don't really have any local ones.

Does a boomer count ?

[-] 3abas@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Find your nearest "liberal" and ask if they support Israel's right to genocide Palestinians... Chances are you have a lot of Nazis near you.

[-] YellowParenti@lemmy.wtf 1 points 5 days ago

You can also ask who they voted for. If they waffle,

[-] BlackPenguins@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

They were under my nose the entire time!

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 12 points 6 days ago

What about chaotic neutral orgies?

[-] SarahFromOz@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Ha ha now this is an answer I can get behind !!

[-] Slovene@feddit.nl 2 points 5 days ago

AND in front of.

[-] tomiant@piefed.social 6 points 6 days ago

There's some trash we could take out.

[-] snooggums@piefed.world 2 points 6 days ago

There is no way I am paying for their dinner.

[-] 4am@lemmy.zip 9 points 6 days ago

Ugh, I have no patience for the anti-fun crowd anymore. Fucking smile for once.

[-] Fuckfuckmyfuckingass@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago

If you wanna wear glasses that say 2026 knock yerself out. I was just making a humourous observation, so I could smile.

[-] Limerance@piefed.social 4 points 5 days ago

You are the negative person in this context.

[-] GiveOver@feddit.uk 2 points 5 days ago

I think it's a double negative so it's ok

Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
