Projection? Risk is played on a network with vertices representing the territories.

So literally like Stellaris

Every 4x game ever is just risk with different bells and whistles when you come down to it

[-] prole 2 points 1 month ago

I don't really consider Paradox grand strategy games to be the same genre as 4X, they're really their own beast and the complexity of even their older games makes Risk look like a game for toddlers.

That's too reductionist for me to upvote. It's like saying every bird is just a coelacanth

[-] mapleseedfall@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

No man, birds are coelacanth with bells and whistles

And then Mercator uncle's like "Projection? What's a projection? The Earth's flat!"

Great idea in theory, but please use an accurate globe, and don't put ridiculously oversized continents on it like in those photos.

[-] JensSpahnpasta@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

It makes sense from a usability POV - if you increase the size of the continents, you can place your armies better. Esp. as half of the planet is just the pacific ocean, which has no function in Risk as far as I remember
