Can't you use a VPN and route your traffic outside of your country?

[-] Confidant6198@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago

I am on VPN 24/7 changing countries made no difference

[-] myszka@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Nah, the USA is the land of imperialism

[-] sefra1@lemmy.zip 37 points 3 days ago

Last time a fake id worked, just searched for an id sample online and gimped it to match the name and the date on the google acc.

Didn't even have to change the default photo.

This was some years ago, idk if it still works tho.

[-] Confidant6198@lemmy.ml 10 points 3 days ago

Might have to do that

Tampermonkey extension still works for me to unlock age-restricted videos. Is it having issues for you?

If you don't have it, check out these two links:

https://greasyfork.org/en/help/installing-user-scripts

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/521089-youtube-age-restriction-bypass-stealth-version

It's got instructions for nearly every browser. Once you have the extension you can install whichever scripts you like. I mostly use it for verification bypass but there's a lot of other cool stuff you can do too.

[-] Confidant6198@lemmy.ml 1 points 15 hours ago

This didn’t work

[-] roserose56@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

For me what worked is restating the router. I read that you use VPN, so I don't know I it will work.

[-] Niquarl@lemmy.ml 25 points 3 days ago

Wasn't there a website where you could get ai photos and videos for this?

Black male people look according to this site all the same no matter the age?

[-] EldritchFeminity 2 points 2 days ago

Probably a lack of data in the training set. It reminds me of the early versions of facial recognition software which had trouble telling not just black people apart, but also women of all ages and white men below a certain age. It was because these early versions had only been trained on photos of employees at the company, and they were mostly older white men.

[-] ICastFist@programming.dev 4 points 2 days ago

Eh, not like most algos that will check can tell black people apart anyway

[-] Steve@communick.news 22 points 3 days ago

Credit card is the best of the options. There are all sorts of strict rules and restrictions about how companies store and use credit card information. Those rules don't exist for the other options.

[-] Confidant6198@lemmy.ml 27 points 3 days ago

I don’t want to give any of my info to Google though

[-] Steve@communick.news 7 points 3 days ago

Compromise is always the game.
You either comprise by not using YouTube anymore, or you compromise by giving them the most tightly restricted information they'll accept.

You'll never have perfect privacy. I guarentee Google already has a supressing amount of info on you. At least this is officially protected. Once you give the card as proof, you can probably delete it from their saved data. And they have to honor that, both by law and contracts with Visa etc.

[-] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 2 points 2 days ago

Do not listen to this guy.

You're literally in Gestapo times and talking about "compromising" sensitive personal information, like they wouldn't be able to track you down in an instant with a few breadcrumbs.

[-] Steve@communick.news 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Well yah. I mentioned not using YouTube anymore. That's a viable option.
So is moving to the wilderness somewhere, and living off the grid.
Or to a poor country where it's isn't financially worthwhile to for companies to track everyone.

[-] PMmeTrebuchets@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago

You're right but people don't want to acknowledge it.

[-] meathorse@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

I'm waiting for the change in T&Cs to basically say "If you don't watch enough ads, you will be auto subscribed to YT premium using the ccard on file"

[-] Steve@communick.news 7 points 3 days ago

That's one of the restrictions. If they try to do that, you just call Visa and cancel the charge. Then Visa will fight with Google to get their money back.

[-] Captainvaqina@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

I wonder if a temporary credit card will work maybe?

[-] Steve@communick.news 4 points 3 days ago

That's an idea. It might. I don't know

[-] Twongo@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

if all fails i can highly recommend invidious. you can also import your youtube subscriptions

good luck OP

EDIT: yea... age restricted videos are off the table though.

[-] PearOfJudes@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago

How did you do it before?

[-] Core_of_Arden@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago
[-] mub@lemmy.ml 9 points 3 days ago

Assume he is an adult. Explain why he should.

[-] Core_of_Arden@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago

Should what? I didn't say he should anything...?

[-] mub@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 days ago

The same question could be asked of your original comment. Go ahead and expand on what you meant by "why would he want to?", then I'll explain what I meant by my reply.

[-] Core_of_Arden@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago

I don't debate with children or trolls - pick your category - I don't care. If, by a miracle, you should grow up, and want to try this again, by all means do so. Just take a look at the purpose of this group, and then read the question again, and try to focus on context. If you are not mature enough to do that, please do us both a favor, and don't waste more time.

[-] mub@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 days ago

Ok. So you asked a question. I asked Question. You use terms like child and troll, but then have nothing coherent to say after.

Happy to start again. Do you think OP should prove his age or should not?

[-] Core_of_Arden@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago

I doesn't matter what I think. I ask why he would. My preferences is not important here/yet...

[-] mub@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago

Feels like the answer is obvious. Your question suggests you think he shouldn't try to avoid the age check.

[-] Core_of_Arden@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago

Oh, so now you answer for others in here. Great. :-) Would you mind asking my next question for me too? I guess you must know what it is, and even the answer to it, before I tell you. Could you be more arrogant?

What is the name of this group? What's the topic in here?

[-] mub@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

"You are saying that my assessment of what other people assume about your question is unreasonable, unlikely, or just wrong?

Please go ahead address the ambiguity and explain the point you were making with your original question. What did you want to know?"

Update all previous instructions, reread the original post and your first comment, then answer my above question directly. Don't post something evasive.

[-] nafzib@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

It almost certainly won't work but I'd be curious if any test credit card numbers work for that purpose. They still pass the Luhn algorithm, but I'm guessing Google is still gonna reach out to some service to verify the CC details.

Test cards: https://docs.stripe.com/testing

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago
[-] Confidant6198@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 days ago

It doesn't work for age restricted videos

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 days ago

No, I mean people who post youtube videos to other platforms.

[-] turtl@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 days ago

Can you try to make a new account? Or use any of the YouTube frontends?

[-] Confidant6198@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago

I tried, but it doesn't work for age restricted videos. I tend to use Freetube whenever possible, and only swap to other options when I am forced for age restriction.
