I saw this before I saw anything from the accounts.

Block list for new propaganda accounts: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:3acafo7uekudfz27te5nd3h7/lists/3m3ggmb4wm62s

Blocked by 65k people so far according to clearsky.app

[-] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 9 points 6 hours ago

Sweet. They will also ride to the most blocked accounts on bluesky just like couch fucker jd vance.

[-] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 7 hours ago

First thing I saw when I opened the app 😄

[-] Kissaki@feddit.org 14 points 8 hours ago

Is it a troll attempt though? Moreso than any activity they do? They've always been boasting about their supposed achievements. Posting a highlight reel when joining a platform alone doesn't seem indicative. What else are they gonna do. Join with no introductory post? Join and be self-critical?

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

There are a bunch of federal agencies on there now. Just reported a bunch of misinformation posts.

[-] gabereal@sopuli.xyz 89 points 14 hours ago

The White House is trying to troll people on BlueSky? The platform famous for having a 'block and move on' ethos?!

I guess new BlueSky users will take the bait, but old users will just shake their heads, hit the 'block' button and get on with their lives

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 37 points 9 hours ago

Yep. White House is on Bluesky? No it isn't. Not that I can see, anyway. I follow a couple of block lists and I'm going to guess it was blocked for me while I was sleeping. Working as intended.

a doctored image of Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries

He can't sue them?

[-] Leather@lemmy.world 62 points 14 hours ago

Decades old internet wisdom reads - Don't feed the trolls.

Block em everywhere, they are desperate for attention and looking to pick a fight so they can call you deranged, extremest and violent.

[-] lepinkainen@lemmy.world 15 points 9 hours ago

”But I can change their minds!”

…every well meaning left-leaning idiot on the internet.

No you can’t; they’re not arguing from a place of good will, they all argue for the sake of arguing.

And in the worst case you’re arguing with a LITERAL PIECE OF CODE.

Block and move on.

[-] Kissaki@feddit.org 3 points 8 hours ago

Not every public opposition is about changing the message targets opinion. Calling those who are willing to invest in making opposition visible idiots…

If you ignore toxicity in communities it festers and poisons the communities.

[-] Aljernon@lemmy.today 2 points 8 hours ago

Sometimes you argue for the lurkers, not the people in front of you. The key is avoid posting walls of text and to throw grenades, not catch them.

[-] db2@lemmy.world 94 points 17 hours ago

Stupidest. Timeline.

[-] SnotFlickerman 76 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Oh look at that, another reason why I don't want to be forced to use the same Public Ledger of Credentials as everyone else. I want to use a PLC where these motherfuckers don't get to have an account.

Get more decentralized, Bluesky and AT protocol, or get fucked.

It's not even worth talking about how all the Republican party stands for anymore is triggering others while acting like they're not actively trying to trigger others. It's the adult equivalent of someone waving their hands in your face and invading your personal space while going "I'm not touching you!"

What needs to be discussed is how to kick them to fucking curb and force them to stay on the fucking curb instead of letting them bring their childish fucking behavior to every service under the sun just so they can harass other people.

the whitehouse press secretary said "your mom" in response to a question this week. can't make this shit up.

I've become a fan of the term 'gish governance' - the process by which they create so many outrages the entire system is unable to contend with anything before it's overwhelmed by something even more outrageous.

[-] RobotToaster@mander.xyz 8 points 11 hours ago

all the Republican party stands for anymore is triggering others

That's just an extension of how American politicians in general always focus on wedge issues, rather than improving material conditions for the working class.

[-] Natanael@infosec.pub 2 points 9 hours ago

Use DID:Web for your account ID with a TLD not under US control, and you get that today.

[-] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 12 points 15 hours ago

also while getting triggered themselves as much as possible.

The anti‐Semite has chosen hate because hate is a faith; at the outset he has chosen to devaluate words and reasons. How entirely at ease he feels as a result. How futile and frivolous discussions about the rights of the Jew appear to him. He has placed himself on other ground from the beginning. If out of courtesy he consents for a moment to defend his point of view, he lends himself but does not give himself. He tries simply to project his intuitive certainty onto the plane of discourse. I mentioned awhile back some remarks by anti‐Semites, all of them absurd: "I hate Jews because they make servants insubordinate, because a Jewish furrier robbed me, etc." Never believe that anti‐Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti‐Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past. It is not that they are afraid of being convinced. They fear only to appear ridiculous or to prejudice by their embarrassment their hope of winning over some third person to their side.

If then, as we have been able to observe, the anti‐Semite is impervious to reason and to experience, it is not because his conviction is strong. Rather his conviction is strong because he has chosen first of all to be impervious.

He has chosen also to be terrifying. People are afraid of irritating him. No one knows to what lengths the aberrations of his passion will carry him — but be knows, for this passion is not provoked by something external. He has it well in hand; it is obedient to his will: now he lets go of the reins and now he pulls back on them. He is not afraid of himself, but he sees in the eyes of others a disquieting image‐his own‐and he makes his words and gestures conform to it. Having this external model, he is under no necessity to look for his personality within himself. He has chosen to find his being entirely outside himself, never to look within, to be nothing save the fear he inspires in others.

-Jean-Paul Sartre, Anti-Semite and Jew

I have seen condensed versions of this quote, but the pieces surrounding the oft repeated quote are worth including.

In other words, in respect to how the current Republican and conservative groups communicate:

Always has been. 🌎🧑‍🚀🔫🧑‍🚀

[-] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 7 points 11 hours ago

Another bit of Sartre, it very much describes the nature of ICE:

JEAN PAUL SARTE

They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The antisemites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert.

If the Jew did not exist, the anti-Semite would invent him.

[The anti-Semite attributes] all or part of his own misfortunes and those of his country to the presence of Jewish elements in the community, ... proposes to remedy this state of affairs by depriving the Jews of certain of their rights, by keeping them out of certain economic and social activities, by expelling them from the country, by exterminating all of them ....

It is not unusual for people to elect to live a life of passion rather than of reason. But ordinarily they love the objects of passion: women, glory, power, money. Since the anti-Semite has chosen hate, we are forced to conclude that it is the state of passion that he loves.

[The anti-Semite] fears every kind of solitariness… however small his stature, he takes every precaution to make it smaller, lest he stand out from the herd and find himself face to face with himself. He has made himself an anti-Semite because that is something one cannot be alone.

[The anti-Semite is afraid] of himself, of his own consciousness, of his own liberty, of his instincts, of his responsibilities, of solitariness, of change, of society, and the world – of everything except the Jews. [He is] a coward who does not want to admit his cowardice to himself.

Anti-Semitism, in short, is fear of the human condition. The anti-Semite is a man who wishes to be a pitiless stone, a furious torrent, a devastating thunderbolt – anything except a man.

Now we need a parody article telling us the Whitehouse started hosting a fediverse instance. For once I don't think people would eat that onion, lol

[-] thatonecoder@lemmy.ca 7 points 13 hours ago

Truth Social; maybe meant for Not The Onion?

[-] taiyang@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Oh no this one I know is real, I just mean, imagine how incredibly unlikely a story it'd be if they joined Lemmy or a Piefed instance.

They don't really fit bluesky either but it's popular enough I can see them try, lol

Edit: or wait, did you mean Truth Social being federated? Cause that'd be Not the Onion material lol

[-] RobotToaster@mander.xyz 12 points 11 hours ago

Truth social is (or was) based on mastodon, with the federation code removed.

[-] taiyang@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Oh that makes sense, the codes probably open source. Those goons probably have minimal experience actually developing an app from scratch.

[-] thatonecoder@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

It is, but only because Mastodon strong-armed them.

[-] Natanael@infosec.pub 9 points 9 hours ago

One of those right wing instances started with federation, but after getting counter trolled, mass blocked, and then mass defederated, they called sour grapes and disabled federation

[-] StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 16 hours ago

Of course they did.

[-] yessikg@fedia.io 23 points 17 hours ago

Can we say Bluesky is a Nazi bar yet?

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 9 points 17 hours ago

Bluesky sucks ass. The only interesting people on there are trans furries, and they ban you for less than Twitter. I either got permabanned for making fun of Kirk, or for using the term "fucking Mormons" like 12 times in a day. Hate speech and abusive language, apparently. Legit hellsite.

[-] EightBitBlood@lemmy.world 28 points 16 hours ago

You do realize you were adding to that hell right? Just because you hate Mormons doesn't mean you should be saying that publically 12 times in a day. Twitter is hell because racists are there doing the same, likely about Mormons just as much as Jews.

Just because you aren't racist doesn't mean the hate you are spreading needs to be spread. Hate Mormons on your own time, or hate the religion, not those practicing it.

But fuck Charlie Kirk. He's one guy and his death unquestionable makes the world a better place. But he was a shit head by his own actions, and most Mormons I've met are just as gullible as anyone else getting taken advantage of by an organized religion.

Just saying, it's hard to find places online, and even harder when you go in hot. Don't go in hot. Maybe Bluesky would treat you better. Their starter packs actually are great ways to find niche communities. The surface level Bluesky is where most of those flurries are. Below that there's actually quite a bit of righteously enjoyable counter culture. Just don't go in hatin.

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 1 points 7 hours ago

I didn't say that I hated Mormons, I mostly used the phrase as a joke, or as a response to them being extremely hateful. And most of the time I was just vibing with the trans furries and trying to ignore Carol from Minnesota posting ai Newsom slop. It's an alright site, just not all that entertaining for me. I went in looking for a good time, and unfortunately didn't find as much as I wanted to. I do remember that they were banning people for talking about Kirk, so that was probably the reason. Couldn't ban transphobes saying slurs though.

[-] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 31 points 17 hours ago

I mean, that would get you banned anywhere.

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 1 points 7 hours ago

Talking about Mormons? The way I said it was mostly as a joke or as a response to some of them doing something hateful. That definitely didn't come across here. Also, I messed up the wording. It was a singular day, across the several months I was on there. Wasn't going on any crusades lol. I had fun with my couple of trans furries, but I couldn't quite ignore all of the random Dems posting ai dogshit of Gavin Newsom fucking Melania. Also, I'm an ex-Mormon, so I know about the attitudes of a lot of them. They're mostly bigoted pieces of shit. Gullible, yes. But not innocent. I feel absolutely no sympathy for those that chose to convert.

[-] tal@lemmy.today 4 points 15 hours ago

The only interesting people on there are trans furries

Somewhere, some trans non-furries and furry non-trans users looked miffed.

[-] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 22 points 17 hours ago

I mean, what were we expecting?

[-] fittedsyllabi@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

Ah crap. Leaving Bluesky.
