There are lots of ways for straight women to be sexually active that have zero chance of becoming pregnant too.

That is one of the many ways, yes.

[-] danekrae@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

And every straight man is now distracted.

Hey don't leave out the bis/pans!

And also a loophole for unmarried religious women.

[-] sga@piefed.social 5 points 6 days ago

going on extreme technicality, but it is possible for fertilisation through anal intercourse (there are documented case).

[-] DarkSirrush@piefed.ca 5 points 6 days ago

That usually requires perforation though, which would make said intercourse less than pleasant.

[-] sga@piefed.social 3 points 6 days ago

again technically, no, you may not have any major "perforation", and sperms could just "diffuse" (not technically correct, but you get the idea) through

In my cartoon-world head, im always scared that one of my little guys is gonna come equipped.

Unless there is an already existing distended fistula and the lady enjoys the "solo-man-dp".

IVF that your doc doesn't know about?

Sexual assault you fear reporting?

Used the wrong dildo?

You make straight porn?

Medical algorithms are meant to take in as many possibilities as they can get that have a real impact on overall health. Pregnancy is a huge one.

How is not relevant.

Edit: I would like to take the opportunity here to point out how this meme has an interesting highlight in the deficiency of women's medical care. It is acknowledged that doctors NEED this information. But it is NOT acknowledged that this is a deeply personal question that many women and most men wouldn't understand why it needs to be answered. It's a systemic failure of the women's doctor patient relationship that was progressing, but as we have seen recently is regressing due to much bigger legal policies.

"Conversations I imagine in my head that never actually happen to anyone"

[-] mimic_dev@lemmy.world 23 points 6 days ago

I'm a trans woman who has absolutely had this conversation

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 7 points 6 days ago

This happens literally every day in clinics.

[-] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 5 points 6 days ago

It's happened to me. Several times.

[-] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago

Every time my wife has some medical thing where the symptoms or treatments could be effected by pregnancy. Although usually they just skip the sexually active question and go straight to "is there any possibility you could be pregnant?"

I've been present for a number of these during emergency rooms visits, and a few other situations where I had to drive her due to the use of anesthesia.

Some lesbians can produce sperm.

[-] db2@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

"Lesbian trapped in a man's body" is literally a 1980s boomer stand up joke. And it wasn't really funny then either.

[-] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 48 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Pretty sure they're talking about lesbian trans women. I could be wrong though

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 35 points 6 days ago

Huh? Sorry if it comes across that way, not what I meant at all. Wasn't even meant as a joke. I'm talking about trans women before bottom surgery.

[-] db2@lemmy.world 20 points 6 days ago

No, it's my fault here. I was complaining about the old joke, not you.

[-] ahornsirup@feddit.org 4 points 6 days ago

It's my understanding that some trans women don't even want bottom surgery. Doesn't make them not women, or if they're gay not lesbian.

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 1 points 6 days ago

True, "before" isn't a very good word there.
