I’m not at all sad that these blue-collar dumb fucks are losing their jobs. The tech industry has been bleeding jobs in the hundreds of thousands for the past few years. Have the day you voted for you dumb fuck

The electorate has to learn the hard way to never trust the capitalists, the capital and capitalism.

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

"Could it be? Could the greedy capitalists not have my best interests at heart?

No. It's me who is wrong."

Not while consuming their media.

[-] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

The "purist" liberals that helped Trump win aren't generally the biggest capitalism proponents.

[-] RockBottom@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

100 %, absolutely true! Ironically only marxists have a thorough understanding of capitalism among the working people of the world.

[-] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Command-style economies not only don't work they also drastically limit individual freedom.

Every Western country to is a mix of capitalism and socialism. The US is much closer to the capitalism side and that needs to change. Canada and Europe have things like universal healthcare while still be capitalist countries. The best economic system we can implement in reality is a heavily regulated capitalism with a robust safety net.

Marx was responding to the conditions of capitalism of his time, which were inarguably much worse. His ideas were an extreme counter point example that would have evolved naturally, meaning all the people looking to force his ideas into being actually oppose him. He didn't give a lot of detail about how his utopian society would actually function in the real world, he was provided a sharp contrast to horrific practices of his time.

90% of "Marxists" today are childish edgelords with zero understanding of man behind their label.

If AI is used for the good of society command economics will work a charme.

[-] greenbelt@lemy.lol 2 points 1 month ago

The Lobby groups will (try to) ensure that the electorate has no say in that matter.

Fed chair Jay Powell said last month that slowing jobs growth could offset the inflationary impact of Trump’s sweeping tariffs regime.

That’s not how price gouging works.

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago

Prices aren't going up because people are just starving and going homeless instead of buying.

Poor people hate this one weird trick!

[-] jacksilver@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I mean, you can only gouge so much. Sure groceries and essentials can do crazy things, but people stop buying stuff when they have no money/job.

[-] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 month ago

Too much winning!

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

No wonder Trump's firing anyone capable of publishing credible job stats.

[-] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Now let's see how many americans are willing to work for the same wages...

[-] NobodyElse@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago

Let’s not try to normalize cripplingly low wages and justify having a underclass that has no choice but to try to subsist on them.

These big ag conglomerates are posting record profits while underpaying the workers. Americans should be able to work these jobs and our society shouldn’t require this sort of exploitation to function.

[-] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Try? Where have you spent the last few years?

[-] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Business of all sizes hire illegal immigrants, this a drastic oversimplification.

I can't imagine taking down an entire country of 300+ million people just to avoid prison.
