Yeah this will go swimmingly. Especially if you’re the supplier of drones to the schools.

These will be purchased, sit in a cabinet and never be charged or maintained. When they are “needed”, no one will know how to operate them or what they can do.

This is a waste of money from the hit git go.

[-] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 hours ago

I give it 6 months before some kid asks ChatGPT to help him hijack these drones instead of bringing a gun of his own. He’ll murder his classmates with irony.

[-] NoodlePoint@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Fucking stupidest idea I ever seen.

The US has more guns than its total population. Real GUN CONTROL is needed.

[-] apftwb@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago

Can the armed drone open classroom doors better than Uvalde police officers?

[-] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

The best solution to prevent school shootings is to have a good social network.

[-] cley_faye@lemmy.world 10 points 4 hours ago

The only thing to prevent school shooting seems to be more guns, AND more automated guns. Somehow.

[-] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

It's not guns that are the problem, it's bullets, just ban selling bullets, let everyone keep there guns, problem will sort itself in a year or 2

[-] PumpkinSkink@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

As a teacher, my first question to admin would be "so what do we do when a group of 15 year old boys get it and start flying it around the neighborhood"?

[-] lenz@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 hours ago

This seems like a stupendously bad idea on its face. Haven’t they heard of Murphy’s Law?

[-] ideonek@piefed.social 15 points 7 hours ago

How can you read a proposal like this and not immediately go "Nope. That's it. We went too far. We lost. Let's circle back and start this entire society again from scratch"?

[-] bigbabybilly@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Sad state of affairs.

[-] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

And truancy!

[-] mogranja@lemmy.world 19 points 10 hours ago

We'll find out how successful the system is soon enough.

Yikes.

[-] frezik 12 points 9 hours ago

I predict this will end in complete success.

We shall define "success" later.

[-] cley_faye@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

Can't be any school shootings if there isn't either school or children in them. Success.

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

They will decide they don't really want to do it after all. After millions has been given to various companies and contractors.

[-] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 80 points 13 hours ago

How long until someone hacks a drone and uses it to commit a school shooting?

[-] TeddE@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago

Or some situation arises where innocent students are the target

[-] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 hours ago

"You see, your kids died, but at least it was only your kids, and not anyone else. They probably would have died from the shooting anyways lmao"

[-] TeddE@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

Or when they start using the drones as truancy officers as a cost cutting measure …

[-] Truscape 33 points 12 hours ago

How long until someone creates a plausibly convincing fake of these drones and uses them to perform a false flag or massacre with no chance of culpability?

[-] Bane_Killgrind@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 hours ago

Oh I guess that would be easier

[-] Deestan@lemmy.world 57 points 13 hours ago

The number of guns will be increased again to handle the problems caused by the increased number of guns.

[-] marlowe221@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

If only there were some easily identifiable common denominator…

[-] BeanGoblin 38 points 13 hours ago

The shootings will continue until morale improves

[-] fartographer@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago

The shootings will continue until ~~morale~~ the shootings improve~~s~~

[-] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 23 points 13 hours ago

And when one of these Drones KILLS INNOCENT CHILDREN we can get Drones for our Drones to Protect our Kids from our Drones we Put in Their SCHOOLS!

[-] turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 hours ago

the only way to stop a bad drone with a gun is….

Me watching T2 as a kid: this will never happen.
Me now: oh

[-] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 18 points 12 hours ago

What a shithole country.

[-] AmidFuror@fedia.io 18 points 12 hours ago

As long as the drones are fully autonomous but still use WiFi with the factory default password, it should be OK.

[-] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 7 points 9 hours ago

Don't forget, that the password is written on the bottom, so its visible when they fly above you

Once it stops just 1 school shooter then all schools will have them.

It would be great for law enforcement to use as a non-lethal use. If they use tranquilizer darts for people with a knife and mental unstable.

[-] vacuumflower@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 10 hours ago

Reminds me of Idiocracy moment with policemen and a plane falling.
