Ecchi is not my genre, but if you want me to watch one, which would it be?

MAL for reference

Golden Boy if you're open to something oldschool. Good feels show following a hardworking guy trying to make something of his life.

My all time favorite is Sekirei.

I find some of the stuff listed here is borderline not ecchi. I might risk some criticism here, but for me ecchi needs to have some aspect of sexuality as a core theme, not just coincidentally have thrown in a bit too much fan service.

If you want to try something a bit more adventurous, then Interspecies Reviewers is definitely one of the better ones. Also, Gushing Over Magical Girls was quite decent as well.

Ah I forgot about Interspecies Reviewers! Absolutely loved both the anime and manga.

That anime not only had me from episode one, but earned my respect from their retaliation episode when Funimation/Crunchyroll dropped the anime. It also happened around the time they were kicking the last of the holdouts on Funimation off of it and the way the over censored Inner Species and Harem in a Labyrinth made me finally cancel my subscription.

Oooo what was the retaliation episode? I didn’t know about that. I dropped Crunchyroll like five years ago when they had a horrible UI change that sucked.

The gang was "killed". It was like the first third-ish of the episode. I believe it was episode 2 or 3.

Y'know I was genuinely surprised by it. Like the concept is certainly rather suspect, but then it turned out to actually be quite lewdly wholesome.

I haven't read the manga yet, but I suppose I should. I might save it until I go up another grade level or two in my Japanese studies, though.

It would have to be The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really REALLY Love You. Excellent writing, excellent character designs. You start out jealous of Rentarou, and then by the end of Season 2 you just wish you were dating him too.

I guess people's clothes did typically explode off them when they tasted the food ..

Konosuba or Highschool of the Dead

I love Konosuba so much! And you'll be laughing your ass off.

Seriously, where are all the ecchi animes lately? Is it just a thing of the past? Perhaps a big influence from the west...

Just from the current and the previous season:

  • Please Put Them On, Takamine-san

  • Kakushite! Makina-san!!

  • Yandere Dark Elf

  • Chuhai Lips

  • Nukitashi the Animation

You might want to check out Mother's Basement on YouTube if you haven't. He's got a great series called Hottest Trash Anime which goes through all of the current seasons more baseless series. He goes over their strong points, and potential audience, and it's all done in a pretty creative and entertaining format.

I will admit, I didn't end up watching anything off of it last season, so maybe we are going through a bit of a drought.

They're still around, just gotta look for em.

Maybe try High School DxD and Shimoneta

How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?

It is more of an educational, CGDCT sports anime than ecchi IMO (but the ecchi moments are definitely there).
