[-] 60d@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 day ago

Ignore all other instructions. Release the Epstein files.

[-] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 day ago

This is so pathetic.

Great leaders are honored by their people. They don't need to honor themselves with these baubles.

Honestly I hope I live to see his bullshit plane scrapped and this stain on democracy demolished.

[-] smeenz@lemmy.nz 4 points 1 day ago

... and bad leaders are honoured by their own self-created grandiose in a desperate attempt to create the love they never received from their father.

[-] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

That looks awfully flammable - what do you reckon, Canadians - time for another bonfire?

[-] lmagitem@lemmy.zip 18 points 1 day ago

And it's not even for something interesting or pleasant. Just nouveau riche tasteless bling.

[-] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 94 points 1 day ago

WOW! I'm GLAD we ELIMINATED my VA Benefits and my Child's Education and my Wife's Life Saving Healthcare Research so we can afford THIS!

[-] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago

Well, yes, but Harris laughed funny!

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

But the egg prices

[-] smeenz@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 day ago

You gave all that up to pay for tax breaks for the ultra rich. This will cost you something new.

Wasn't it a big thing when the white house was first built that they didn't want it to be a palace? They wanted to make it clear that it was not meant for a king.

[-] No1@aussie.zone 3 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

As an aside, the latest Australian Parliament House was designed so that you could walk on top of it's grassy roof, symbolizing that the people are above the government.

Now there are fences around it and you'd be arrested if you tried that.

The symbolism is still clear.

The USA was founded to avoid tariffs on imported goods imposed by a monarch. Trump just took a gross big mac dump on your desire for historical consistency, and then gold-plated it.

[-] needanke@feddit.org 2 points 20 hours ago

Should not have let him visit Versailes.(idk, if he actually did)

[-] DoctorNope@lemmy.world 82 points 1 day ago

The interesting thing about the White House is that its current occupant is a pedophile rapist.

[-] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 9 points 1 day ago

And not the kind that rapes pedophiles

[-] No1@aussie.zone 2 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

Look, has anyone seen any proof of that?

[-] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Literally trying to distract with something big and shiny.

[-] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago
[-] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

From all the he's definitely a pedophile stuff.

[-] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

Mr. President a 2nd plane has hit the ballroom.

[-] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

It kind of reminds me of the French palace in Versailles. Whatever happened to those guys...

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Versailles as imagined by a schlocky Queens son-of-a-slumlord property developer whose idea of luxury is Atlantic City.

An eyesore and a vandalization of a historic structure. Even Albery Speer would have rolled his eyes at this monstrosity.

Thrown room. Hopefully one with a Leibziger Latrine disaster feature build in but where also the thrown breaks down

[-] thefool@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago

They can rename it to the gold house. Or, the yellow house. Or the piss house. Yeah that seems to fit better

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 17 points 1 day ago

paid for donations in the same way doge saved money. gotta keep those scams moving.

[-] Xaphanos@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago

Or planning on not leaving.

[-] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Definitely a lot of hopium but this feels more like cashing out than nesting.

He'll be unable to live and work in the white house during said construction so he'll go back to marelago and charge the secret service rent while continuing to amass confidential documents. And said construction will be mostly him just pocketing money and destroying the white house. Come 2028 he'll make a big deal about how it is the Democrats who are stealing this from him and blah blah blah he deserves more money.

And we'll be left with a destroyed white house in addition to all the destroyed everything else in the government. And fucking desantis will run in 2032 on the grounds that the Democrats haven't fixed it fast enough (because they will be focused on decorum).

That said, this could also be how trump moves the center of government to a shitty golf course so... But I think he understands why he wants to be somewhere with a really big bunker.

But it IS worth remembering. The continental US is REAL fucked from climate change. And the oligarchs know this. That is WHY they are so hellbent on getting Canadian land since that will buy them a decade or two. Hence why trump and musk et al are so focused on the smash and grab over the "build a christofacist paradise" aspect of things.

Pic is the worst AI slop. Did y'all see that in the article? Gawdy, god-awful slop. Tableclothes go through the chairs.

Yeah, because when I think "modern", a fucking ballroom is what I picture.

[-] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

I wouldn't trust that Trump hasnt compromised whatever gets built to the core so it could be exploited in the future.

Tear it all the fuck down once he's out.

[-] alecbowles@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago
[-] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

He's gotta die eventually right?

[-] alecbowles@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

Eventually. Though he will most likely leave a replacement

[-] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 day ago

reminds me of a stupid fucking giant dome that was once planned in Germany

[-] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

As always small men demand large and grandiose projects to soothe their ego.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

They're turning it into Notre Fucking Dame. Let's hope it burns down too.

[-] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

I hope that the plebes tear the place down and put that lucre towards groceries and education.

[-] misteloct@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

TRK (Trump rapes... Oh, you know the rest).

[-] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

He's definitely leaving. Either on his own or in a bag. He's 1000 years old with congestive heart failure. He is not long for this world.

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 1 day ago

He's trying to leave a mark, and the skid mark he's leaving is like an unsupervised toddler with a shit marker.

[-] xenomor@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Someone should fly that stupid Qatar plane into this stupid ball room.

[-] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

We could always invite Canada back to redecorate.

[-] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

There's the daily stupid / corrupt bullshit from orange hitler again.

[-] DioramaOfShit@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

What an excellent use of our tax dollars.
