The whole Democratic party is just... done. They really F'd it all up for the rest of us. Remember, SCOTUS handed them complete power months before Biden left office and they did nothing. They sold us out. They also cater to the rich and never make substantial changes that benefit the American people. I highly recommend John Stewarts latest podcast, where he interviews someone who really gets it. We need politicians who do what they say they will do, not "whatever the people want... today." The racists bigots in the Repugnican party only respond to power. We need a powerful leader, not a bunch of weak, insider-stock traders.

Now, an announcement that she won't run for President again would be even more welcome.

[-] SippyCup@feddit.nl 6 points 1 day ago

She'll probably join the Republican lineup.

[-] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 1 points 15 hours ago

She'll go on tour with the side talkers daughter when she runs for prez.

This is good news! I am sure the prison population is cheering the news.

How Kamala Harris Fought to Keep Nonviolent Prisoners Locked Up (...past their sentencing for cheep labor.)

[-] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I found it fascinating that right wingers labeled her simultaneously both, easy on crime and a hawk

[-] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 day ago

Oh I know, but that is a republican label for the left they pull out of their bag. I remember her when she was major of San Francisco, lived there at the time, another neo-liberal politician. CA is a breeding ground for them.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

and her heyna laugh, its all MYSOGYNY and sexism.

[-] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 45 points 1 day ago

Fucking go away.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 52 points 1 day ago

Damn, remember when she placed 5th in her home state during the 2020 primary?

Lost to Andrew Fucking Yang.

[-] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 1 day ago

Remember on that primary debate stage, when Tulsi called her BS out? That was THE moment to treasure. Kamala was the first to drop out, and the least liked back then.

[-] Jordan117@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

What are you talking about? Yang dropped out before the CA primary, and Harris dropped out the December before the first primary happened. She wasn't even on the ballot.

Thank God. The only way a Republican could actually win in a normal election has been averted.

[-] robocall@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago

I'm voting for Katie Porter

[-] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 26 points 1 day ago

I really like Porter. I've seen leftists label her a liberal, but her time in Washington showed that she cares about the working class, so even if she's more of a centrist than a lot of us would like, she's still an improvement.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 day ago

She's progressive. She a leftist in my eyes. She's definitely not aligned with the neolibs. Also, she reminds me of Phyllis from The Office.

[-] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

I actually agree. I've always considered her to be a progressive (or at least what's considered progressive in the United States), but the last time I brought her up on Lemmy I got jumped on and told she's a liberal.

I love those clips of her when she was grilling CEOs as member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. She has fantastic "get to the point and don't fuck around" energy which is desperately needed in US politics.

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

Did you bring her up in a ml or hexbear community? Lemmy isn't a monolith and there are some people in it hell-bent to call even AOC a liberal.

[-] octobob@lemmy.ml 3 points 22 hours ago

AOC is liberal as hell

[-] NauticalNoodle@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Her standing on Israel is suspect.

[-] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

It probably was an .ml comm, yeah. This was when I was just starting out on Lemmy and was actually excited to talk to the "leftists" on the communist comms. I was hopelessly naive.

[-] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 day ago

Considering the past couple elections she's probably as left as we're gonna get here in California, barring a charismatic young mamdani like figure coming out of nowhere.

[-] gidostro@lemmy.cafe 27 points 1 day ago

I don’t hate her but I don’t want her in any political position. She should go be the ceo of a non-profit or something

[-] IsaamoonKHGDT_6143@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

Director of Open AI, Palantir, Mozilla or IBM?

[-] CoffeeJunkie@lemmy.cafe 4 points 1 day ago

No, those things matter, I want all of those things to actually succeed & do well. CEO of...McDonald's, RC Cola, or Craftsman tool group company. They're not worth a shit since they sold out to China.

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Nevermind the sham that is Open AI's supposed purpose, you want Palantir to succeed??

[-] CoffeeJunkie@lemmy.cafe 1 points 1 day ago

I'll be honest, idk what Palantir is, it's my one blind spot. What do you have against Palantir, is it a Nestlé or something?

Ooooo. Kamala as CEO of Nestlé would be amazing. Two birds!

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 1 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Palantir is a data snooping founded by Peter Thiel and tightly associated with ICE, the US military, and the Trump administration.

[-] gidostro@lemmy.cafe 3 points 1 day ago

Is IBM a joke I don’t know about?

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Probably referencing that they provided the calculation machines that the third Reich used

[-] gidostro@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 day ago

Probably not. Probably just gibberish

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago
[-] gidostro@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 day ago

They aren’t a non-profit. So, I’m assuming there is a joke in there?

[-] bus_factor@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Is Palantir a non-profit either?

[-] gidostro@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 day ago

But Mozilla is. I’m confused.

It's because Elani's billionaire father already bought the position and "nobody better dare try to challenge her!"
